Zenvo says its bespoke Mjølner is the world’s most powerful V12 fitted to a production road car. The company quotes up to 1,250 bhp from the 6.6-litre, quad-turbo engine alone and up to 1,850 bhp for the Aurora Tur’s hybrid system. Those are manufacturer specifications; the reviewed official sources do not provide independent testing or certification of the global record.
What is the Mjølner V12?
Zenvo announced Mjølner on 4 April 2025 as the bespoke combustion engine for its Aurora hypercar. Developed with MAHLE Powertrain, it is a 6.6-litre, 90-degree V12 with four turbochargers in a hot-V layout. Zenvo lists a 9,800 rpm redline, variable-geometry turbocharging and MAHLE Jet Ignition among its features. Zenvo’s announcement describes the engine as designed for road use and says Jet Ignition enables lambda-one operation.
Zenvo also says the design considered current and future emissions legislation. That statement is not evidence of regulatory certification in every market. The engine is presented as an Aurora-specific powerplant, not as a mass-market engine or a separately announced crate-engine product. Zenvo’s MAHLE partnership announcement describes the collaboration behind the powertrain.
How much power does it make?
Zenvo gives two different figures because the V12’s output and the hybrid system’s combined output are not the same measurement. The company’s April 2025 release quotes up to 1,250 bhp for the combustion engine alone and up to 1,850 bhp when hybrid assistance is included. Zenvo’s current technology page lists the combustion engine at 1,200 Nm of torque.

The 1,850-bhp figure should therefore be read as a system total, not as output from the V12 by itself. Zenvo’s published Aurora variant specifications also differ:

These are figures published by Zenvo, not independently measured results. In particular, the Agil numbers are explicitly estimates on the company’s technology page. They describe each car’s combined powertrain, so they should not be mistaken for separate V12-only outputs.

Is it independently confirmed as the world’s most powerful road-car V12?
Not by the evidence available in Zenvo’s official announcements and model information. Zenvo calls Mjølner the most powerful V12 fitted to a production road car, but those sources do not provide an independent comparison across production road-car V12s or a third-party record certification. The accurate phrasing is that Zenvo claims the title, rather than that an independent authority has confirmed it.
Zenvo chairman Jens Sverdrup said in the 4 April 2025 announcement: “The fact it is the world’s most powerful roadcar engine was not something we set out to achieve, but is a result of us pushing what we know is possible.” That is Sverdrup’s characterization of the company’s achievement, not an independent finding.

What was the development status when Zenvo announced it?
In its 4 April 2025 release, Zenvo reported that the first hand-built engine had been completed and that an extensive testing phase would get underway. This is a dated development update: it does not establish that validation was completed, that customers had taken delivery, or that the announced output figures had been independently verified. Zenvo presents Mjølner as the bespoke engine for Aurora, not as a standalone retail engine. The company’s current Aurora model page lists production as limited to 50 cars and directs interested buyers through Zenvo’s dealer network. The available official information does not establish a separate engine purchase option.
