Zenvo’s Mjølner is a 6.6-liter, quad-turbocharged V12 developed with MAHLE Powertrain for the Aurora hypercar. Zenvo’s 2023 announcement set a target of 1,250 hp at 8,000 rpm and described the engine as flex-fuel and modular. Those are announced specifications and development intentions—not independently verified test results.
What Zenvo announced about the Mjølner V12
In 2023, Zenvo presented the Mjølner as the combustion engine at the heart of its Aurora hypercar. The New Atlas report described a 6.6-liter V12 with four turbochargers, a stated peak output of 1,250 hp at 8,000 rpm, and an engine limit of 9,800 rpm. New Atlas reported these as announced specifications; they should not be read as independent measurements.
The announcement also called the engine flex-fuel and modular. Zenvo and MAHLE were considering smaller V6 and V8 versions using the architecture, but the reporting describes those as a development direction, not as confirmed production engines. The sources do not establish emissions performance or regulatory compliance.
Engine power is not the Aurora’s combined output
The 1,250-hp figure refers to the V12, not the complete hybrid powertrain. A dealer model page gives estimated combined output of 1,450 hp for the track-focused Aurora Agil and 1,850 hp for the GT-oriented Aurora Tur. Those vehicle-level figures are estimates listed by The Elite Cars, whose page does not state a publication date. The Elite Cars’ Aurora page is not an independent engine test.

How the engine’s development has progressed
The public milestones suggest a multiyear path from announcement toward the car’s production version, but each milestone comes from reporting rather than published test data.
- July 2023: Zenvo announced the 6.6-liter quad-turbo V12 and its intended specifications. New Atlas covered the announcement.
- April 2025: Interesting Engineering reported that the first engine unit had been completed. That is a build milestone, not evidence of a particular measured output. Interesting Engineering reported the completed unit.
- July 2026: A production-version Aurora reveal was reported. A reveal does not, on its own, establish independently tested power, customer deliveries, or full production status. Motor1 reported the production-version reveal.
Does “world’s most powerful V12” hold up?
The claim depends on what is being compared. Zenvo’s 1,250-hp announcement is an engine-only figure for a road-car project; the higher Agil and Tur numbers are estimated outputs for complete hybrid systems. Comparing the latter with another car’s engine-only rating would mix different measures.

“Most powerful production V12” also requires a defined comparison set: road-going production engines, rather than concept or racing engines, and turbocharged engines compared with the appropriate peers. The available reports do not provide a comprehensive, independently verified ranking. The defensible description is that Zenvo announced a 1,250-hp target for a road-car V12 and positioned it as exceptionally powerful; the superlative is not established as a universal record.
Why Zenvo wants the engine on display
The Mjølner is part of the Aurora’s visible mechanical design, not simply a component hidden beneath bodywork. The Elite Cars model page attributes this explanation to Zenvo chief designer Christian Brandt: “The chassis and the components of Aurora are all works of art, and we made a very definite decision that we did not want to hide these details away under a monolithic design. It is like a complex timepiece or the skeletal architecture of a motorcycle, where the inner workings are the fascinating part, and we wanted to showcase as much of the chassis, the engine, and the suspension as we could.”

What the figures do—and do not—tell you
The announced displacement, turbocharger count, peak power, and rev limit describe Zenvo’s design target. They do not establish independently verified output, emissions results, or readiness for series production. The 2025 completed-engine report and 2026 production-version reveal add development context, but the sources cited here do not provide technical test documentation to confirm those performance claims.
