Manufacturers use different units, fuel conditions and peak or race-mode ratings, and the available official sources verify fewer than 15 distinct examples. Here are the documented cars, with those distinctions kept visible rather than padding the list with unverified entries.
What counts as a 1,000-horsepower car?
For this list, a car qualifies when its manufacturer publishes an output figure at or above the threshold. That does not make every figure directly comparable: hp and bhp are horsepower labels, while PS is metric horsepower; some ratings depend on fuel, and some describe a short-duration peak rather than power intended for sustained use. Vehicle type matters too: a series-production road car is not the same thing as a prototype racer.
The result is a source-backed selection, not a definitive ranking or a complete roster of 15. The official material cited here verifies seven examples, including a Porsche prototype; it does not substantiate 15 distinct qualifying cars.
Production road cars
2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170
Dodge rates the Demon 170 at 1,025 hp at 6,500 rpm and 945 lb-ft of torque at 4,200 rpm. The headline output depends on E85 fuel; Dodge says the car can reach 900 hp on E10. The fuel qualification is essential to the 1,025-hp claim. Dodge also quotes 0–60 mph in 1.66 seconds and peak acceleration of 2.004 g; these are manufacturer figures, not independent test results. Dodge’s 2023 announcement also names a one-day SRT Experience class at Radford Racing School as a purchaser benefit.

Bugatti Chiron Super Sport
Bugatti specifies 1,600 PS and 1,600 Nm for the Chiron Super Sport. Keep the unit as PS: the manufacturer’s figure is not stated as 1,600 U.S. horsepower. Its May 2022 release discusses a high-performance dynamometer test, which is a different context from a road-speed record. Bugatti’s release provides the stated figures and test context.
Koenigsegg Jesko Attack
The Jesko Attack’s published output varies with fuel: Koenigsegg lists 1,280 hp on gasoline and 1,600 hp on E85, alongside maximum torque of 1,500 Nm. Don’t quote the larger rating without its E85 condition. Koenigsegg’s technical specifications state the figures; the page’s publication year is not shown.

Rimac Nevera
Rimac lists the Nevera at 1,408 kW / 1,914 hp and names Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires on its model page. The accessible page does not state a publication year, so the rating should be attributed to the manufacturer rather than dated to a particular model-year announcement. Rimac’s Nevera page gives the output and tire specification.
Hennessey Venom F5
Hennessey reports 1,817 bhp for the Venom F5. Its February 2024 release discusses plans to exceed 300 mph; that is an intended target, not evidence that the car achieved it. Hennessey’s release is the source for the output and the planned speed attempt.

Porsche Taycan Turbo GT and Weissach Package
Porsche says the Taycan Turbo GT and the Weissach Package can deliver more than 1,000 hp at peak power. The distinction between peak output and continuous output matters: this manufacturer description is a peak-power figure, not a claim that the car sustains that level indefinitely. Porsche describes the Taycan Turbo GT as a series-production model. Its March 2024 release also reports that the Weissach Package set a Laguna Seca lap on February 23, 2024. Porsche’s announcement provides those details.
A prototype racer, not a production road car
Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 e-Performance
Porsche identifies the 718 Cayman GT4 e-Performance as a prototype race car. It reports more than 1,000 hp in qualification mode, but gives a separate figure for simulated racing: 450 kW (612 PS) for up to 30 minutes. The qualification peak should not be mistaken for the output it is specified to deliver throughout that simulated-racing period. Porsche’s project page describes both modes.

Why the headline number does not tell the whole story
- Check the unit. Bugatti’s 1,600 PS is not labeled as 1,600 hp; Hennessey uses bhp, while other manufacturers state hp.
- Keep the operating condition attached. Koenigsegg publishes different Jesko Attack outputs for gasoline and E85. Dodge’s 1,025-hp Demon 170 rating is tied to E85, with a separate 900-hp E10 figure.
- Separate peak from sustained or race-mode output. Porsche gives the GT4 e-Performance a qualification-mode peak and a lower simulated-racing rating for up to 30 minutes.
- Identify what kind of car it is. A series-production road car, a prototype racer and a limited-purpose performance vehicle do not represent the same use case.
- Treat targets as targets. Hennessey’s plan to exceed 300 mph does not establish that the target was reached.
That is the useful answer to the question of what separates a factory-rated 1,000-hp car from a powerful modified build: the peak figure alone does not establish fuel requirements, duration of output, traction, or intended use. Those claims need their own evidence, and the manufacturer ratings above do not, by themselves, prove a broad engineering comparison between factory cars and modified builds.
Why this is not a verified list of 15
The official manufacturer sources cited here establish seven examples, not 15. They also span different units, fuels, output modes and vehicle categories. Adding more names without comparable manufacturer verification would make the count look more certain than the evidence allows. A complete “15 cars” list needs a stated inclusion rule—such as production road cars only—and a verified manufacturer rating for every entry.
