The engine is being developed for the Aurora, and that figure is for combustion alone—not the hybrid system’s combined output. Zenvo calls it the most powerful V12 for a road car; that is the company’s claim, not an independently verified record.
What is the Mjølner V12?
Mjølner is a 6.6-litre, 90-degree V12 developed by Zenvo Automotive with MAHLE Powertrain for the Aurora hypercar. Zenvo’s current Aurora specifications describe a hot-V layout, with four electrically assisted variable-geometry turbochargers mounted within the V. The company also lists pre-heated catalytic converters as part of the engine system.
Zenvo specifies 1,250 bhp from the engine and a maximum engine speed of 9,800 rpm. These are manufacturer-published figures; the available sources do not provide an independent dyno measurement of Mjølner output. The 9,800 rpm figure is the listed maximum engine speed, not the rpm at which the 1,250 bhp peak is achieved.
How does 1,250 bhp compare with the Aurora’s total output?
The engine’s output is only part of the Aurora’s powertrain. Hybrid assistance raises the combined figures Zenvo lists for the two versions:

Those totals are hybrid-system figures, not alternative ratings for the V12 by itself. Zenvo’s wording also matters: the Tur figure is “up to” 1,850 bhp, while the Agil figure is an estimate.
Has Zenvo established a world record?
Zenvo describes Mjølner as the most powerful V12 fitted to a road or production car. That is a manufacturer claim with a defined scope; the sources available do not establish it through an independent survey of every road-car V12. It is more precise to say Zenvo claims the road-car V12 distinction than to present an unqualified world record.

What does “engine completed” mean for the Aurora?
The phrase refers to completion of the first engine unit, which Interesting Engineering reported on 10 April 2025. It does not mean Aurora customer cars were completed or that series production began.
In a 8 July 2026 program update, Zenvo described the Aurora vehicles as validation prototypes and said first customer deliveries were targeted for the second half of 2027. That is a future target, not a confirmed delivery milestone. The newer timetable supersedes Zenvo’s earlier 2024 plan, which had said production would commence in 2026.

Why build a high-revving quad-turbo V12?
The Aurora pairs the V12’s combustion output with hybrid assistance. Zenvo has framed the engine as part of the car’s sensory character as well as its powertrain: the exhaust note and response are central to the intended driving experience. Four turbochargers in the hot-V layout and an electrically assisted variable-geometry system are features of the manufacturer’s design; the published specifications alone do not establish real-world sound, response, or performance.
Zenvo’s 2023 partner announcement gave an earlier projected figure of 1,250 bhp at 8,000 rpm and a 9,800 rpm rev limit. That peak-power rpm is historical specification context and should not be confused with the current product page’s listed 9,800 rpm maximum engine speed.
