Yes—but the headline needs an important qualification. A Zeekr 7X fitted with the company’s 75-kWh second-generation Golden Battery was reported to charge from 10% to 80% in approximately 9 minutes 45 seconds in January 2025. Zeekr’s official specification is 10.5 minutes under defined conditions, using compatible high-power charging equipment.
That is a remarkable production-EV result, especially for an LFP battery. It is not, however, an empty-to-80% charge, a result available from every fast charger, or proof that this remains the world’s fastest EV charge in 2026.

The short answer
- Vehicle: Zeekr 7X electric SUV.
- Battery: 75-kWh second-generation Golden Battery, also called the Golden Brick Battery in some markets.
- Battery chemistry: Lithium iron phosphate (LFP).
- Charging window: 10% to 80% state of charge.
- Reported test: approximately 9 minutes 45 seconds.
- Zeekr’s official figure: 10.5 minutes under standard room-temperature conditions with a V3 liquid-cooled supercharger.
- Charger used in reported coverage: Zeekr proprietary equipment described as rated at up to 840 kW.
So “80% in nine minutes” is a shorthand for a near-nine-minute 10%–80% session under unusually favorable vehicle, battery, charger and temperature conditions.

The result showed that a production Zeekr 7X and its Golden Battery could meet or slightly improve on Zeekr’s advertised 10.5-minute charging time. The reported test was covered between January 30 and February 4, 2025, and was filmed using Zeekr’s own high-power charging system. InsideEVs reported the measured time as 9 minutes 45 seconds, while other coverage described the charger as an 840-kW unit.

That distinction matters. The car did not continuously receive 840 kW throughout the session. A charger’s advertised peak rating, the vehicle’s maximum DC-input capability and the battery’s average charging power are different measurements. Power normally changes throughout a charging session, and the car may reduce its demand as the battery fills.
Zeekr’s own 7X brochure gives the more conservative official figure: 10% to 80% in 10.5 minutes under specified test conditions. The independent demonstration therefore supports the company’s claim; it does not replace the official specification or turn it into a universal guarantee.
Why charging comparisons use 10% to 80%
EV charging is not equally fast across the battery’s entire state-of-charge range. Vehicles generally accept their highest power at low and medium charge levels, then reduce power as the battery approaches full. This protects the cells and manages heat and voltage.

It represents a substantial replenishment without making the result depend too heavily on the slower final portion of the charge. The same vehicle may take disproportionately longer to go from 80% to 100%.
A 10%–80% result also does not describe a session that begins at 35% or 50%. If a driver arrives at a charger with 50% remaining, the car has less high-power charging range available before its power begins to taper. Conversely, arriving with a very low state of charge does not guarantee the fastest result if the battery is cold, overheated or unable to communicate with the charger at its intended power level.
What is Zeekr’s Golden Battery?
The relevant 7X pack is a 75-kWh LFP battery using Zeekr’s second-generation Golden Battery technology. The vehicle uses an 800-volt electrical architecture, and Zeekr lists a maximum charging rate of 5.5C for the pack. Its official materials also claim more than 83.7% volume utilization in the cell-pack design.

In simple terms, a 5.5C rating describes a theoretical maximum charging rate equivalent to 5.5 times the battery’s capacity per hour. It is not a promise that the battery will draw that rate continuously from 0% to 100%. Actual power depends on state of charge, battery temperature, thermal controls, charger output and the vehicle’s software.
Fast charging is a system-level achievement, not just a cell-chemistry achievement. The battery cells must work with:
- the battery-management system;
- liquid cooling and battery preconditioning;
- the vehicle’s high-voltage wiring and connector;
- charging-control software and communication protocols;
- the charger’s power electronics and cable; and
- the charging site’s grid connection.
The Golden Battery is notable partly because it uses LFP chemistry. LFP packs are commonly valued for cost, durability and safety characteristics, but they generally have lower energy density than many nickel-manganese-cobalt (NMC) batteries. The 7X illustrates that trade-off: the 75-kWh Golden Battery is LFP, while the larger 100-kWh version uses NMC cells. Zeekr’s European press material confirms the chemistry and battery-version distinction.
How much range does nine minutes add?
During the reported test, the 7X display indicated approximately 1,270 miles of range per hour of charging, or roughly 21 displayed miles per minute. That is a useful illustration of the charging rate, but it is not a universal range figure and should not be read as EPA-rated mileage.
Range estimates vary with the vehicle’s efficiency, driving speed, weather, terrain and the range-testing standard used. Zeekr’s published figures also vary by market and battery version. The global 7X page lists up to 780 km under the CLTC cycle for a 100-kWh Qilin-battery model, while regional pages list different figures for 75-kWh versions. Zeekr’s brochure cites 615 km WLTP for a 100-kWh version.
CLTC and WLTP figures are not interchangeable with one another or with EPA range. A driver should therefore treat the 21-miles-per-minute display reading as vehicle-specific and test-specific, not as a promise of 21 real-world highway miles for every minute connected.

Why the charger matters as much as the battery
The vehicle cannot draw more power than the charging system can provide. To reproduce the reported result, a driver would need more than a Golden Battery-equipped 7X. The key requirements include:
- A 7X trim with the 75-kWh Golden Battery.
- A compatible high-voltage DC charging system.
- A charger capable of supplying the required power.
- A battery within the relevant temperature range.
- Battery preconditioning or thermal preparation where required.
- A starting state of charge close to 10%.
- No significant power sharing with another vehicle.
- The correct connector, communication protocol and software configuration.
- A charging site and grid connection capable of supporting the equipment.
The contrast with lower-powered infrastructure is significant. Zeekr’s European press material says a particular Core RWD configuration can charge from 10% to 80% in 13 minutes on a 360-kW charger. That is still extremely fast, but it is not the same operating environment as the near-nine-minute demonstration. See Zeekr’s regional charging specification.
An 840-kW charger also does not mean that every car connected to it receives 840 kW. The charger may reach its peak only briefly, while the vehicle may be limited by its own maximum input, battery conditions or charging curve. If two vehicles share a cabinet or site, available power may also be divided.

A customer may see a longer session because of:
- a starting charge level above 10%;
- a cold battery in winter;
- an overheated battery after sustained driving or in extreme heat;
- a charger with a lower power rating;
- power sharing at a busy station;
- missing or incomplete battery preconditioning;
- software limits imposed by the vehicle or charger;
- a different trim or battery chemistry;
- regional charging hardware differences; or
- protective controls related to battery condition or age.
These conditions do not invalidate the test. They define the difference between a tightly controlled peak-performance demonstration and the range of results a driver may encounter on the road.
Is it still the world’s fastest EV charge?
It is safer to describe the Zeekr 7X result as a near-nine-minute 10%–80% demonstration than as an uncontested 2026 world record.
Zeekr described its Golden Battery as the world’s fastest-charging mass-produced EV battery, and the 7X test showed a production vehicle reaching 80% from 10% in 9 minutes 45 seconds. But “world’s fastest” can refer to a manufacturer claim, a battery product, a production vehicle, a single filmed test or a repeatable customer experience. Those are not identical categories.

Later Golden Battery claims
Geely’s 2025 sustainability report says the company launched a ShenDun Golden Battery 12C product with peak charging power of 1.32 megawatts and a claimed 10%–80% time of seven minutes. Later reports also described a 2026 Zeekr 001 update with a 95-kWh Golden Battery, 900-volt architecture and a claimed seven-minute 10%–80% charge.

The achievement is meaningful if a buyer regularly travels on routes with compatible ultra-high-power chargers. A short stop could replenish a large portion of the usable battery, bringing the experience closer to a conventional refueling break.
But the benefit depends on infrastructure. A 7X charged at home overnight will not reproduce a nine-minute session, and a lower-powered public charger will produce a different result. Buyers should check the manufacturer’s charging-network information and local charger maps rather than relying on the battery headline alone.

There are other trade-offs:
- LFP versus NMC: the LFP Golden Battery prioritizes high-power charging and the characteristics associated with LFP, while the NMC 100-kWh version offers a larger energy reserve and higher energy density.
- Peak versus average power: an impressive maximum does not reveal the complete charging curve.
- Infrastructure cost: megawatt-class charging requires substantial power electronics, cooling and grid capacity.
- Geographic availability: vehicle trims, connectors, warranties, networks and prices vary by market.
- Battery longevity: the available specifications do not establish that repeated high-power charging has no effect on long-term performance.
Zeekr publishes test-condition disclaimers and market-specific warranty terms, but the cited material does not establish a guaranteed lifetime charging curve. Buyers should read the warranty for their country and ask whether it covers capacity, defects and charging performance separately.

Availability outside China
The 7X is marketed in multiple regions, including selected European and Asian markets, but the specifications are not globally identical. Official pages for global, Singaporean, Georgian and Hong Kong markets show that pricing, equipment, range, warranty and battery configurations can differ.
The available information does not establish broad U.S. retail availability or a U.S. public-charging experience for the Zeekr 7X. The nine-minute result should therefore not be presented as something American buyers can currently reproduce without a market-specific official listing.
Even where the 7X is sold, prospective owners should confirm:
- which battery and trim are offered;
- the local 10%–80% specification;
- the connector and charging-network compatibility;
- where the necessary high-power chargers are deployed;
- the local warranty terms; and
- the applicable range-testing standard.
What the Golden Battery breakthrough really means
The important achievement is not simply that one dashboard reached 80% quickly. It is that a production EV, an LFP pack, high-voltage architecture, thermal management and a specialized charging network worked together closely enough to approach a conventional refueling stop.
The limitation is equally important: the headline depends on infrastructure that remains far less common than ordinary 150-kW, 250-kW or 350-kW public charging. For most drivers, the practical value of the technology will depend less on the battery’s theoretical peak than on whether a compatible charger is available along the routes they actually drive.
Bottom line: the Zeekr 7X Golden Battery did reach 80% from 10% in approximately 9 minutes 45 seconds in a reported January 2025 test, while Zeekr officially rates it at 10.5 minutes. That is a significant fast-charging milestone—but it is a vehicle-and-charger system result, not a universal nine-minute promise or an uncontested 2026 world record.
