You can buy used and certified pre-owned (CPO) cars through Amazon today. Amazon began listing them on August 4, 2025, through Amazon Autos, starting in Los Angeles with Hyundai dealers. The car is sold by a participating dealership, not by Amazon, and you pick it up at that dealership. Amazon provides the listings, financing comparison, and much of the paperwork.
How the program has developed
- August 4, 2025: Amazon announced used and CPO listings, initially in Los Angeles with Hyundai dealer inventory, with more cities and dealers to follow.
- October 7, 2025: Amazon named Chase, Santander, and Wells Fargo as additional lenders whose finance offers shoppers can compare.
- November 17, 2025: Amazon announced Ford Blue Advantage certified vehicles, which come with their own inspection and warranty tiers (covered below).
Amazon’s consumer guide, which we checked on October 8, 2026, describes the program as it currently operates. Lender names and program terms from 2025 announcements may have changed since then, so confirm them on the listing you are considering.
Where you can buy one
Amazon Autos works with more than 1,000 participating dealers in more than 130 U.S. cities, according to its current consumer guide. Its dealer FAQ says Hyundai, Mazda, Kia, and Subaru dealers can list new, CPO, and used inventory nationwide. Ford Blue Advantage dealers list Blue, Gold, and EV certified vehicles. Used inventory also includes Hertz and several hundred dealers.
Availability is local, not national in practice. Listings are generally shown within 75 miles of your location, and not every brand or model appears in every ZIP code. Search with your own ZIP code before assuming a particular car is within reach.
#1 Best Overall
Used listings must be no older than 10 years and have no more than 100,000 miles, according to Amazon’s current seller page. Those limits determine what can appear on the marketplace at all, so a car that is older or has more miles will not be listed there.
How buying a car with Amazon Autos works
- Browse listings near you and select the car you want.
- Choose cash, lease, or financing.
- If you have a trade-in, enter it to get an estimated value.
- Compare the financing offers presented to you.
- Place a deposit to hold the vehicle.
- Complete most of the paperwork online.
- Schedule pickup with the local dealership. Remaining physical signatures and the handover happen there.
Dealers offer test drives, so you can inspect the car before you finalize. Amazon’s guide says pickup is typically within three days of placing an order. That is a typical timeline, not a guarantee for every deal, so ask the dealer to confirm the date in writing.
Price, fees, and who sets them
The dealer sets the upfront price on each vehicle it lists. Amazon’s guide says costs are itemized and that Amazon charges no transaction fee or commission to the customer. Because the dealer controls pricing, compare the complete out-the-door figure on each listing against comparable cars from other sellers. Include dealer fees and any optional protection products in that comparison.
Financing comparison
Amazon’s guide says you can see personalized finance offers showing APR, term, monthly payment, and total interest. Approval depends on your credit, the lender, the vehicle, and your market. Compare the total interest over the full term, not only the monthly payment. Also get a quote from your own bank or credit union before you commit, so you have a benchmark.

Returns and warranties
Amazon states the following minimums for used and CPO purchases made through the marketplace. Confirm the exact terms and any return conditions on each listing before you pay a deposit.
| Protection | Minimum stated by Amazon | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Return policy | 3 days or 300 miles | Amazon consumer guide and seller guidance |
| Limited warranty | 30 days or 1,000 miles | Amazon consumer guide and seller guidance |
Amazon’s dealer guidance says the warranty must meet specified minimums. These include powertrain coverage, roadside assistance, towing for a covered claim, and access to licensed repair facilities.
Rank #4
Ford Blue Advantage certification tiers
Ford CPO vehicles sold on the marketplace carry the protections in Amazon’s November 17, 2025 announcement. Those terms differ by certification tier.
| Ford Blue Advantage tier | Inspection | Limited warranty |
|---|---|---|
| Gold Certified | 172-point | 12 months / 12,000 miles |
| EV Certified | 127-point | 12 months / 12,000 miles, comprehensive limited warranty |
| Blue Certified | Not stated in the announcement | 90 days / 4,000 miles |
The same announcement says Ford CPO vehicles sold on the marketplace include a 14-day or 1,000-mile money-back guarantee through Ford Blue Advantage. Check the vehicle’s own warranty paperwork, since the seller and certification tier both affect what applies.

Checks before you place a deposit
- Confirm the listed price includes all dealer fees, and ask for the itemized out-the-door total.
- Check the vehicle’s history report, which Amazon says is available on used and CPO listings.
- Review the mileage, age, and service records against the listing’s eligibility limits.
- Identify the certification tier and read its warranty document.
- Confirm the return window and conditions in writing.
- Measure the distance to the pickup dealership and factor in the trip.
- Book a test drive before you finalize.
Amazon’s figures describe its own marketplace terms. They are not independent measurements of vehicle quality or of how often buyers use the return policy.
