Xiaomi’s May 22, 2025 event in Beijing introduced its first flagship smartphone chip, two devices using it and the company’s second electric vehicle. But the original “all set to launch” framing needs a correction: the Xiaomi 15S Pro and Pad 7 Ultra launched in China, while the YU7 SUV was unveiled and received its formal commercial launch later, on June 26, 2025.
The event was a showcase for Xiaomi’s broader “Human × Car × Home” strategy, linking smartphones, tablets, wearables and electric vehicles through the company’s hardware, software and ecosystem services.

The chip made its first appearances in the Xiaomi 15S Pro and Pad 7 Ultra. Using the same platform in a phone and a tablet lets Xiaomi tune HyperOS, power management, imaging and AI features across different device classes.
Xiaomi also promoted an AnTuTu score above three million for the 15S Pro. That is a company-reported benchmark claim, not a universal measure of real-world performance. App optimization, sustained thermals, battery settings and benchmark conditions can all affect results. The May 22 announcement did not establish that XRING O1 matched Apple, Qualcomm or MediaTek across every workload.
Xiaomi said it had invested RMB 13.5 billion in chip research and planned to invest RMB 50 billion over the following decade. Those figures describe company commitments; they do not by themselves guarantee chip yields, long-term software support or commercial success.

Xiaomi 15S Pro
The Xiaomi 15S Pro is best understood as a premium Xiaomi 15-family variant designed to showcase XRING O1, rather than as an entirely new phone generation.
According to Xiaomi’s official product information, the China-market phone includes:

What buyers should consider
The key question is not simply whether XRING O1 is fast. Buyers should weigh the phone’s battery, camera performance, network compatibility, software support and warranty against the Xiaomi 15 Pro, Xiaomi 15 Ultra and globally supported flagship alternatives.

Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →The May 22 announcement established a Chinese launch, not a US or worldwide release. Importers should verify language options, Google Play and notification compatibility, cellular bands, banking-app behavior, bootloader restrictions, warranty coverage and repair options before buying. A China-market HyperOS device may not provide the same experience or support as a model officially sold in another region.
Xiaomi Pad 7 Ultra
The Pad 7 Ultra brought XRING O1 to a larger, productivity-focused device. It was also Xiaomi’s first tablet marketed under the “Ultra” tier.
The official specifications include:
- 14-inch 3.2K OLED display
- Up to 1,600 nits of claimed peak brightness
- 5.1mm-thin metal unibody
- 609-gram weight
- 12,000mAh battery
- 120W HyperCharge
- Wi-Fi 7
- 32MP ultra-wide front camera and 50MP rear camera
- Eight-speaker audio system
- HyperOS 2
Xiaomi priced the Pad 7 Ultra from RMB 5,699 in China. Its intended laptop-style setup also includes a keyboard with backlit keys and a large haptic touchpad. That accessory is central to the productivity pitch, so the tablet’s headline price does not necessarily represent the cost of the complete setup.

Xiaomi claimed up to 18.95 hours of continuous video playback in a Tencent Video test. This should be treated as a vendor or test-condition result rather than a general battery-life guarantee. A 14-inch OLED tablet can offer more workspace and better viewing than a smaller model, but its size makes handheld use and portability less convenient. Buyers should also assess keyboard and stylus pricing, multitasking behavior, app compatibility and China-market software support before treating it as a laptop replacement.
The YU7 was unveiled—not launched for sale—on May 22
The YU7 was the most important automotive announcement at the event. It is Xiaomi’s first SUV and the company’s second major electric vehicle after the SU7 sedan. However, it was not yet a retail launch on May 22.
Xiaomi unveiled and technically presented the YU7 on May 22, 2025. The company later held the vehicle’s formal commercial launch on June 26, 2025, as recorded in its official YU7 launch announcement.
That distinction matters. The May event demonstrated Xiaomi’s move into electric SUVs and extended its phone-car-tablet ecosystem narrative, but it should not be used as evidence that the vehicle was available to purchase that day. Retail pricing, delivery timing and market availability belong to the later launch information.
For Xiaomi-phone owners, features such as UWB-related vehicle access and digital-key functions could make the YU7 more integrated than a standalone EV. They may require compatible Xiaomi hardware, an appropriate account, supported software and regional availability.

The cited official materials establish the YU7 in the Chinese domestic market. They do not establish US certification, American pricing, local charging compatibility, service coverage, warranty support or plans for a US launch. Anyone considering an import would need to investigate legality, registration, charging standards, parts, software and servicing separately.
The wider ecosystem: XRING T1 and wearables
The event also included the XRING T1, a 4G smartwatch chip with a self-developed baseband, and the Xiaomi Watch S4 15th Anniversary Edition. Xiaomi claimed that XRING T1 supported eSIM-based independent communication and improved 4G efficiency.
XRING T1 is significant because it shows Xiaomi applying its chip-design effort beyond phones and tablets. Together with the 15S Pro, Pad 7 Ultra and YU7, it supported Xiaomi’s argument that the company is building an integrated consumer-technology platform rather than selling disconnected products.
What the announcement proved—and what it did not
What it demonstrated
- Xiaomi had brought its own flagship mobile silicon to commercial phone and tablet products.
- The company was pursuing tighter integration between chips, HyperOS and device-specific features.
- Xiaomi Auto was expanding from a sedan into the electric-SUV segment.
- Phones, tablets, watches and vehicles were being presented as parts of one ecosystem.
What remained unproven from the event alone
- Independent performance and efficiency compared with competing flagship chips.
- Long-term driver, app and operating-system optimization.
- Chip production scale, yields and supply resilience.
- International availability and support for the 15S Pro or Pad 7 Ultra.
- YU7 delivery execution, service coverage and export prospects.
China pricing and international availability
The verified launch prices—RMB 5,499 for the Xiaomi 15S Pro and RMB 5,699 for the Pad 7 Ultra—were China launch prices from May 22, 2025. They should not be treated as current 2026 prices, US retail prices or landed import costs.
Import costs can include shipping, taxes, duties, currency conversion, seller margins and accessories. More importantly, an imported China-market device may have different software, supported bands, warranty terms and regional features. A China-market tablet can also require additional checks for app availability and accessory compatibility. The XRING O1 itself is not a separately purchasable consumer processor.
For buyers outside China who prioritize local warranty and carrier support, a globally sold Android flagship or tablet may be the safer choice. For electric SUVs, locally sold brands offer clearer regulatory, charging and service pathways than a China-market YU7 unless Xiaomi establishes official regional sales channels.
The accurate bottom line on the May 22 headline
Xiaomi’s May 22, 2025 event was a major technology and automotive milestone, but the precise summary is narrower than the original headline suggests: Xiaomi introduced XRING O1, launched the XRING-powered 15S Pro and Pad 7 Ultra in China, and unveiled the YU7 SUV. The YU7’s commercial launch came later, on June 26, 2025.
