The China-only launch set prices, opened orders through Xiaomi’s app, and introduced three versions: Standard, Pro, and Max.
The event followed Xiaomi’s December 2023 technology preview, so March was the commercial launch rather than the car’s first public appearance. Xiaomi reported 50,000 orders within the first 27 minutes.

Three Xiaomi SU7 variants launched in China
The SU7 went on sale in mainland China at prices ranging from RMB 215,900 to RMB 299,900. These are the announced Chinese retail prices; dollar conversions depend on the exchange rate and should not be treated as international pricing.

| Variant | China launch price | Battery and drivetrain | Claimed performance |
|---|---|---|---|
| SU7 Standard | RMB 215,900 | 73.6-kWh BYD Blade battery, rear-wheel drive, 220-kW motor | 700 km CLTC range; 0–100 km/h in 5.28 seconds |
| SU7 Pro | RMB 245,900 | 94.3-kWh CATL battery | 830 km CLTC range |
| SU7 Max | RMB 299,900 | 101-kWh CATL Qilin battery, dual-motor all-wheel drive | 800 km CLTC range; 0–100 km/h in 2.78 seconds |
The Standard version is the rear-wheel-drive entry point. The Pro is aimed at buyers prioritising range, with the highest stated CLTC figure of the three. The Max trades some range for substantially stronger performance, with 495 kW of combined output and a 265-km/h top speed.

CLTC figures are laboratory test results from China. They are useful for comparing the three SU7 grades, but real-world range will vary with speed, temperature, traffic, tyre choice, and use of heating or air conditioning.
Nine exterior colors and four interior choices
Xiaomi expanded the SU7’s launch palette to nine exterior colors. The names used in English-language materials and translations are not always identical, but the launch selection included:
- Aqua Blue
- Verdant Green
- Mineral Gray
- Meteor Blue
- Radiant Purple
- Basalt Gray
- Lava Orange
- Pearl White
- Diamond Black
The first three colors Xiaomi had shown publicly were Aqua Blue, Verdant Green, and Mineral Gray. The additional colors broadened the range with brighter options such as Radiant Purple and Lava Orange, alongside conventional white, black, and gray finishes.

Color names can appear differently in translated Chinese coverage—for example, some reports use Gulf Blue, Olive Green, Elegant Gray, or Cambric Gray—so buyers in China should confirm the exact option name in Xiaomi’s configurator.
Orders and delivery timing
Xiaomi began taking orders in China through its mobile app immediately after the launch presentation. The company said it received 50,000 orders in the first 27 minutes, an early indication of the attention surrounding Xiaomi’s entry into the car market.
The original delivery schedule was:
- SU7 Standard and SU7 Max: deliveries planned from late April 2024.
- SU7 Pro: deliveries planned from late May 2024.
Those dates were launch targets, not a guarantee of delivery timing for every configuration or customer. Production capacity, selected options, and local order queues can affect the actual handover date.
Xiaomi Pilot driver assistance
The SU7 launch included two driver-assistance packages: Xiaomi Pilot Pro and Xiaomi Pilot Max.
Pilot Pro used a vision-based system. Pilot Max added lidar hardware, supporting Xiaomi’s more advanced assisted-driving strategy. Xiaomi also announced a staged plan for City NOA, or city navigation-on-autopilot testing:
- Testing was scheduled to begin in April 2024.
- An initial rollout to 10 cities was planned for May.
- A nationwide rollout was planned for August.
These were launch plans rather than proof that every City NOA function was active for every buyer on delivery day. Availability could depend on software releases, city coverage, vehicle hardware, regulations, and Xiaomi’s testing programme. As with any assisted-driving system, the driver remains responsible for monitoring the road and taking control.
The SU7 is part of Xiaomi’s device ecosystem
Xiaomi positioned the SU7 around its “Human × Car × Home” ecosystem. The car was designed to connect with Xiaomi phones, tablets, smart-home products, and other devices, while also supporting Apple integration including Apple CarPlay.

- Comes with everything needed for assembly including screwdriver
- Features opening parts, rolling wheels and pre-painted metal body
- Easy to assemble, creates fully functional rolling replica model car
- Fun and educational STEM activity for kids to build realistic miniature vehicle
That software and connectivity strategy is one of the clearest ways the SU7 differs from a conventional new-car launch. Xiaomi was not presenting the vehicle only as an electric sedan; it was also using the car as an extension of its existing consumer-electronics platform.
Was the Xiaomi SU7 launched outside China?
No. The March 28 launch covered mainland China. Xiaomi’s product information states that the SU7 Series was not for sale outside mainland China, so the event should not be described as a global or international release.
Importers may advertise individual cars in other markets, but that is different from an official local launch. Imported vehicles can also raise questions about registration, charging compatibility, software access, warranty support, parts, and driver-assistance availability.
What the 2024 launch established
The SU7 gave Xiaomi a direct entry into China’s competitive electric-car market with three clearly separated grades. The Standard focused on a lower starting price and rear-wheel-drive efficiency, the Pro emphasised maximum stated range, and the Max added dual-motor performance and lidar-based driver-assistance hardware.
For accuracy, this article refers to the first-generation 2024 SU7. Xiaomi later announced a separate new-generation SU7 with different pricing and specifications. Those later models should not be mixed with the original launch figures above.

The Bottom Line
The first-generation Xiaomi SU7 became officially available in China on March 28, 2024, with three variants priced from RMB 215,900 to RMB 299,900. Its launch combination of up to 830 km of CLTC range, a 2.78-second Max version, Xiaomi-device integration, and nine exterior colors made it a serious new entrant—but the original car was a China-market model, not a global release.
