Verdict: The Xiaomi Mi Electric Scooter 3 is a good short-trip urban scooter if portability matters more to you than range, hill-climbing strength or rough-road comfort. At 13.2 kg, it is substantially easier to carry and store than many longer-range scooters, and its folding dimensions make it practical for a car trunk or mixed car-and-transit commute. The compromises are equally clear: a 275 Wh battery, no suspension, modest performance as the battery drains, and uncertain long-term availability of model-specific replacement parts.
For smooth pavement, short commutes and last-mile journeys from a parked car, it remains a sensible lightweight option. It is a weaker choice for heavy riders, sustained hills, pothole-filled routes or anyone expecting 30 km of everyday range.

The Mi Electric Scooter 3 is a compact, stand-up commuter scooter identified by model number DDHBC16NEB. It uses a 300 W rated motor, an advertised 600 W maximum output, an 8.5-inch pneumatic tire at each end and a 36 V, 275 Wh lithium-ion battery.
Xiaomi positions it as a straightforward city scooter rather than a high-performance machine. It has a handlebar display, headlight, folding mechanism, app connectivity and electronic locking features described in the company’s documentation. The design is familiar and relatively uncomplicated, which is useful for riders who want an easy-to-store vehicle rather than a large screen, advanced suspension system or extreme range.

These figures come from Xiaomi’s global specification and documentation. Speed limits, firmware, labeling and equipment can vary by region, and local law may impose a lower limit or restrict where electric scooters can be ridden.
Portability is the main reason to buy it
The Mi Electric Scooter 3 makes the most sense when you regularly need to move the scooter without riding it. Its 13.2 kg weight and 49 cm folded height are useful for:
- carrying up stairs to an apartment or office;
- placing it in a car trunk for a last-mile commute;
- storing it inside instead of leaving it outdoors;
- combining driving with a short ride from a parking area; and
- taking it on suitable public transport where scooters are permitted.
The folding format is compact, but do not mistake “lightweight” for “effortless.” A 13.2 kg object becomes tiring when carried one-handed through a station or up several flights of stairs. The advantage is relative: it is easier to handle than a heavier long-range scooter, not weightless.
The supplied package includes the scooter, power adapter, T-shaped Allen wrench, extended nozzle adapter, five screws, one tire and user documentation. Retail bundles can vary by region, so buyers should confirm the contents of a particular listing rather than assuming every box is identical.
How it rides on ordinary city roads
On smooth asphalt and paved cycle paths, the scooter is easy to maneuver. Its low weight gives it a manageable feel when turning or positioning it at low speed, and independent road testing found that it maintained its maximum speed reasonably well under normal conditions.
The central ride-quality problem is the complete absence of suspension. The pneumatic tires provide some cushioning, but they cannot isolate the rider from potholes, broken pavement, cobbles and sharp edges. On a good urban surface, the ride is acceptable. On poor pavement, impacts travel directly through the deck and handlebars, making the scooter less comfortable and potentially less confidence-inspiring.
That makes route quality more important than the headline motor rating. If your regular journey is mostly smooth pavement, the lack of suspension may be tolerable. If it includes rough streets every day, a heavier scooter with larger tires or suspension is likely to be a better fit.
Acceleration, speed and hill performance
The Mi Electric Scooter 3 requires a kick-start before the motor engages, according to independent testing. This is a useful safety behavior, but it means the scooter does not launch from a complete standstill in the way some riders may expect. The throttle must remain pressed while riding, and the tested unit did not have cruise control.
Under test conditions, it reached 20 km/h in approximately five seconds after the initial kick-start. That is adequate for an entry-level city scooter and enough for normal starts on flat routes. It is not the kind of acceleration that makes a 300 W commuter scooter feel like a high-powered performance model.
Xiaomi claims a maximum gradeability of 16%, but that number needs context. Rider weight, battery charge, temperature, tire pressure, wind, road surface and the length of the incline all affect climbing ability. An independent test found that the scooter could approach bridge-like inclines at full speed with a full battery, while acceleration and climbing weakened after several battery bars had been used.
In practical terms, it should handle modest urban inclines more confidently with a full battery and a lighter rider. Sustained steep hills, heavy loads and headwinds will expose the limits of the small battery and modest rated motor. Do not interpret “16%” as a promise that the scooter will climb every 16% hill at its maximum speed.
Real-world range: treat 30 km as an upper benchmark
The advertised range is up to 30 km, but Xiaomi’s test procedure is controlled: a fully charged scooter travels at a constant 15 km/h on a flat surface at 25 °C, with a 75 kg load and no wind. That is useful for comparing specifications, not a guarantee of the distance every owner will achieve.

Everyday range can be reduced by:
- riding at or near the 25 km/h Sport-mode limit;
- hills, headwinds and repeated acceleration;
- a rider or cargo load near the 100 kg maximum;
- cold weather;
- underinflated pneumatic tires;
- stop-start traffic; and
- battery aging.
The independent test also observed that performance declined as the battery discharged, especially on hills. That matters more than the final range figure: a route that is technically within the scooter’s maximum distance may become slower and less capable before you reach the destination.

Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →For planning purposes, treat the 30 km figure as an optimistic ceiling and leave a reserve for weather, detours and battery aging. This is best viewed as a short-range commuter, not a long-distance replacement for a car, motorcycle or larger electric scooter.
Braking and safety
The braking system combines electronic braking/ABS at the motorized wheel with a mechanical rear disc brake using dual pads. Independent testing found braking performance competitive with a Xiaomi Pro model and recorded a stopping roll of slightly more than 3 m from 20 km/h in that test. Stopping distance varies with tire condition, road surface, rider weight, reaction time and weather, so that result should not be treated as a universal guarantee.
The scooter is not automatically suitable for children simply because Xiaomi lists a broad recommended rider-height range. Read the local manual, follow its safety instructions and check local laws before allowing anyone to ride. Helmet requirements and rules about roads, cycle paths, age and insurance vary substantially by location.
A certified electric scooter helmet is a sensible part of a new rider’s setup. Choose equipment with certification labeling appropriate to your country, and verify local requirements rather than assuming a generic bicycle or scooter product is legally sufficient.

The Mi Electric Scooter 3 carries an IP54 rating, meaning limited protection from dust and splashing. It should not be treated as permission to ride through heavy rain, deep puddles or standing water. Avoid pressure washing it, and do not charge the scooter while it is wet.
After exposure to moisture, allow the scooter and charging port to dry fully and follow Xiaomi’s documentation before charging. Water damage can be expensive and may not be covered by a warranty, depending on the market and circumstances.
Charging and battery ownership
Xiaomi lists charging time at approximately 5.5 hours. The battery is rated at 275 Wh, and Xiaomi specifies 500 charging cycles while retaining more than 70% capacity. Actual battery life depends on storage conditions, temperature, charging habits, load and use.
The charger is not a generic accessory to buy by appearance alone. Xiaomi specifies a 42 V maximum output, 71 W adapter, 1.7 A maximum output current and a custom 8.0 × 1.6 mm DC cable port. If the original charger is lost or damaged, match the voltage, output, connector, plug and exact scooter model before ordering a replacement.

A replacement charger for Xiaomi Mi Electric Scooter 3 should therefore be treated as a model-verification purchase, not a universal 42 V charger purchase. Regional product codes and connectors can matter, and an incorrect charger can create a safety hazard or damage the scooter.
Tires and maintenance
The 8.5-inch pneumatic tires are a comfort advantage over solid tires on smooth-to-moderately imperfect pavement, but they introduce puncture risk and regular pressure checks. Underinflation can hurt range, handling and rim protection. Use the pressure guidance for your regional manual and inspect both tires before longer rides.
The included extended nozzle adapter is useful for reaching the valve. Owners may also want an electric scooter tire pump or compact inflator with a compatible valve adapter. Do not assume that every bicycle pump head will fit easily, and do not use a pressure figure from a different Xiaomi model without checking the Mi Electric Scooter 3 documentation.
If a tire is damaged, search for an 8.5-inch replacement tire for Xiaomi Mi Electric Scooter 3, but verify the tire dimensions, valve arrangement and model compatibility before ordering. Xiaomi scooter parts are not automatically interchangeable across the M365, 1S, Pro 2 and Mi Electric Scooter 3 families.

Parts availability is a long-term consideration
Specialist parts sellers list Mi Electric Scooter 3 dashboards, motors, batteries, brake components and other parts. However, one specialist retailer also reports that Xiaomi parts are no longer being regularly reordered and that remaining inventory is being sold down. Availability may therefore differ by country and may become less predictable as stock is exhausted.
Before buying an electronic component, photograph or record the scooter’s model and serial information. Xiaomi documentation identifies DDHBC16NEB alongside multiple regional product codes. A dashboard, controller, battery or charger that looks similar may not be electrically or electronically compatible.
For a simple consumable such as a tire or brake pad, replacement may be relatively straightforward for an experienced owner or repair shop. Battery, controller and dashboard work is more technical. If you are not comfortable diagnosing lithium-ion systems and scooter electronics, use a qualified repair provider rather than guessing at parts.

The documented package includes the scooter, adapter, tools, an extended nozzle adapter, screws, one tire and user documentation. The scooter itself includes the basic equipment needed for riding, such as the display, headlight and folding hardware, but buyers should check the exact regional listing for included accessories.

- The electric scooter dashboard is made of pcb material, durable and waterproof, with good anti oxidation effect
- Electric scooter dashboard panel can instantly display the data, clear display. Power and speed are clearly visible on the screen.
- The electric scooter dashboard circuit board is suitable for Xiaomi Mi 3 Electric Scooter
- Electric scooter dashboard circuit board is easy to install and remove, you can install it smoothly in minutes.
Plan separately for protective equipment and security. A helmet is the most important safety purchase. A lock may also be useful when the scooter is briefly left with the car or outside a destination, although no portable scooter lock should be treated as equivalent to secure indoor storage. Local laws and the theft risk of the parking location should guide your choice.
Who should buy the Mi Electric Scooter 3?
Buy it if:
- your commute or errands are short and mainly use smooth pavement;
- you regularly carry a scooter up stairs or load it into a vehicle;
- you want a simple, established design rather than advanced features;
- your weight and cargo remain below the 100 kg maximum; and
- you can accept conservative real-world range and reduced hill performance as the battery drains.
Look elsewhere if:
- you need substantial reserve range for a long commute;
- you are close to or above the 100 kg rider limit;
- your route has sustained steep hills or frequent strong headwinds;
- you regularly ride over potholes, cobbles or badly broken pavement; or
- you want large tires, suspension, a more advanced display or stronger current-generation performance.
Mi Electric Scooter 3 versus a heavier scooter
The decision is less about whether the Mi Electric Scooter 3 is “good” in isolation and more about which compromise you prefer. The Xiaomi gives up battery capacity, suspension and some hill reserve to remain relatively easy to carry. A heavier model may be more comfortable and capable over distance, but its weight can make it impractical to carry upstairs or load into a small car.
| Your priority | Better match |
|---|---|
| Carrying, indoor storage and last-mile use | Mi Electric Scooter 3 |
| Smooth short urban routes | Mi Electric Scooter 3 |
| Long range with reserve | A larger-battery scooter |
| Frequent steep hills | A more powerful scooter |
| Rough pavement and cobbles | A scooter with suspension and/or larger tires |
| Easy long-term parts sourcing | A currently supported model with confirmed local parts supply |
Final verdict
The Xiaomi Mi Electric Scooter 3 earns a qualified recommendation for riders who put portability first. Its 13.2 kg weight, compact folding format, manageable controls, pneumatic tires and dual-braking system make it a practical short-trip city scooter and a useful last-mile vehicle for car owners.
Its limitations are fundamental rather than cosmetic. The 275 Wh battery makes the 30 km claim an optimistic benchmark, hill performance is sensitive to battery charge, the 100 kg load limit narrows its suitability, and the lack of suspension makes rough roads tiring. Declining or inconsistent parts availability is another reason to verify support before committing.
Choose the Mi Electric Scooter 3 when you need a light scooter for forgiving urban routes. Choose a heavier, newer model when comfort, range, steep-hill performance or long-term parts support matters more.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does the Xiaomi Mi Electric Scooter 3 weigh?
Xiaomi lists the Mi Electric Scooter 3 at 13.2 kg. It is relatively light for a full-size commuter scooter, although it can still feel heavy when carried for more than a short distance.
Can the Xiaomi Mi Electric Scooter 3 really travel 30 km?
Thirty kilometres is Xiaomi’s controlled-test maximum: 15 km/h, flat ground, 25 °C, no wind and a 75 kg load. Faster riding, hills, cold weather, heavier loads, stop-start traffic, low tire pressure and battery aging will reduce practical range.
Does the Mi Electric Scooter 3 have suspension?
No. It uses 8.5-inch pneumatic tires but has no suspension, so smooth pavement is much more comfortable than potholes, cobbles or broken roads.
Is the Xiaomi Mi Electric Scooter 3 waterproof?
No. Its IP54 rating indicates limited protection from dust and splashing. Avoid heavy rain, puddles, submerged surfaces and pressure washing, and never charge the scooter while it is wet.
What charger does the Xiaomi Mi Electric Scooter 3 use?
Xiaomi specifies a 42 V maximum-output, 71 W adapter with 1.7 A maximum output current and an 8.0 × 1.6 mm DC port. Verify the exact regional model, voltage, connector and plug before buying a replacement.
Is the Xiaomi Mi Electric Scooter 3 suitable for hills?
It can handle modest inclines, particularly with a full battery and a lighter load, but its claimed 16% gradeability is a controlled specification rather than a guarantee of maximum-speed climbing. Performance drops as the battery discharges.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: The Xiaomi Mi Electric Scooter 3 is a lightweight, compact short-range commuter that works best on smooth city routes and in car-to-last-mile use. Its portability is genuinely useful, but buyers must accept no suspension, battery-sensitive hill performance, optimistic range claims and potentially inconsistent future parts supply.
