Xfinity Says Goodbye After 11 Years as NASCAR’s Second-Tier Series Title Sponsor

The Xfinity name is gone from NASCAR’s second-tier series after 11 seasons, but Comcast has not left NASCAR. Here is what changed in 2026 and what stayed the same.

Xfinity is no longer the title sponsor of NASCAR’s second-tier national series. The 2025 championship race was the final season-ending event under the NASCAR Xfinity Series name. Beginning January 1, 2026, the series became the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series.

The series itself has not disappeared, and Xfinity has not left NASCAR. Comcast remains involved in the sport through Cup Series partnerships, Xfinity’s expanded relationship with 23XI Racing, Xumo’s streaming role, and Xfinity Mobile’s wireless partnership. What ended was an 11-year naming-rights era—not NASCAR’s relationship with Comcast.

What happened to the Xfinity Series?

NASCAR’s second-tier national touring series now competes as the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series. O’Reilly Auto Parts and NASCAR announced a multiyear entitlement agreement on August 18, 2025, replacing Xfinity as the series’ title sponsor. The new official identity took effect on January 1, 2026.

NASCAR’s 2026 schedule lists 33 races for the rebranded series. It remains NASCAR’s second national division below the Cup Series and alongside the Craftsman Truck Series. The 2026 broadcast arrangement is exclusive to The CW.

That means the correct terminology depends on the season being discussed:

Season or context Correct name
2015 through 2025 NASCAR Xfinity Series
2026 events and current competition NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series
Historical discussion Former Xfinity Series or the Xfinity-sponsored era

Calling the current series simply the “Xfinity Series” is no longer accurate unless the reference is specifically historical.

The timeline: from Comcast partnership to the final Xfinity season

NASCAR and Comcast began their relationship in 2014. Xfinity became the title sponsor of NASCAR’s second-tier series for the 2015 season, following Nationwide Insurance’s run as entitlement sponsor.

Comcast’s agreement was renewed in February 2025, but only for one additional season of series naming rights. NASCAR described 2025 as the partnership’s 11th year. The 2025 championship race therefore marked the end of the Xfinity-branded period.

O’Reilly’s agreement is the fourth entitlement sponsorship in the series’ history. The succession is:

  1. Anheuser-Busch
  2. Nationwide Insurance
  3. Xfinity
  4. O’Reilly Auto Parts

The transition was a change in commercial identity, not a shutdown, merger, or replacement of the series itself.

Xfinity did not leave NASCAR

One of the most misleading ways to describe the change is to say that Xfinity “left NASCAR.” Comcast ended Xfinity’s entitlement sponsorship of the second-tier series, but its broader NASCAR involvement continued.

Under the 2025 renewal, Comcast remained a Premier Partner of the NASCAR Cup Series. Other Comcast brands also retained NASCAR roles: Xfinity Mobile became an Official Wireless Partner, while Xumo became an Official Video and Streaming Partner.

That strategy became more visible in 2026 through Xfinity’s expanded partnership with 23XI Racing. Xfinity debuted a fully branded No. 23 car at the Daytona 500 and served as Bubba Wallace’s majority primary partner for the 2026 Cup season. It also retained primary-partner involvement with Tyler Reddick and the No. 45 car at selected races.

The evidence points to a shift in emphasis. Comcast appears to be moving from naming the second-tier series toward broader Cup-level exposure and activations involving connectivity, technology, streaming, and team partnerships. That is a reasonable interpretation of the announced deals, but NASCAR and Comcast have not publicly provided a detailed financial explanation for the decision. It would be too strong to claim that a specific return-on-investment calculation caused the change.

Why O’Reilly Auto Parts is a natural successor

O’Reilly Auto Parts is an automotive replacement-parts retailer with a long connection to motorsports. The company was founded in Springfield, Missouri, in 1957 and reported more than 6,400 locations across 48 states, Puerto Rico, Mexico, and Canada when the sponsorship was announced.

O’Reilly has previously sponsored NASCAR races and venues, including the O’Reilly Auto Parts 253 at Daytona’s road course and the O’Reilly Auto Parts 150 at Mid-Ohio in the Craftsman Truck Series. That history gives the new sponsorship an obvious connection to cars, vehicle maintenance, racing teams, and grassroots fans.

There is also a practical marketing fit. Xfinity’s title sponsorship tied NASCAR to a telecommunications and connectivity brand. O’Reilly brings the series back toward an automotive-aftermarket identity: parts, tools, maintenance, and the people who work on their own vehicles or support racing operations.

That alignment does not prove O’Reilly’s sponsorship will outperform Xfinity financially. It does explain why the company is a logical partner for a racing series whose competitors, teams, and fans are closely connected to automobiles.

O’Reilly adds a season-long bonus program

The new sponsorship includes more than a name and logo package. For the 2026 season, O’Reilly funded a driver incentive program tied to the series’ 33 races.

  • The winner of each race receives $5,700.
  • The driver who accumulates the most race bonuses receives an additional $26,000 at season’s end.
  • The series champion receives a separate $57,000 bonus.

NASCAR reported that the program totals $271,100 before the separate Dash 4 Cash distribution. The $5,700 race-winner figure refers to 1957, O’Reilly’s founding year.

This gives the entitlement sponsorship a visible, recurring activation throughout the season. Fans see the O’Reilly connection attached to every race-winning bonus rather than only on the series logo, broadcast graphics, or entry list.

The Xfinity era leaves a significant legacy

The 11-year Xfinity period coincided with several important moments in the series’ modern history. These moments were not caused solely by the sponsor, but they help define the era that has now ended.

  • 2015: Kyle Busch returned to victory after recovering from injuries suffered earlier in the season.
  • 2016: Dale Earnhardt Jr. recorded his final national-series victory at Richmond.
  • 2016: Daniel Suárez became NASCAR’s first international Xfinity champion.
  • 2018: The Daytona finish was officially scored at 0.000 seconds, one of the closest finishes in NASCAR history.
  • 2023: The series made its debut on the Chicago street course, introducing a new type of venue to the national touring schedule.

The name also became associated with NASCAR’s driver-development ladder. Cup veterans, young prospects, part-time stars, and drivers building careers through the national ranks all competed under the Xfinity banner. Future references to those seasons should retain “Xfinity Series,” just as historical references retain the names Nationwide Series or Busch Series when appropriate.

What the change means for fans

For spectators, the immediate change is mostly one of branding and media presentation. The cars, teams, drivers, championship structure, and 2026 schedule belong to the same second-tier national series, but official references, graphics, merchandise, broadcasts, and race-weekend signage now use the O’Reilly Auto Parts name.

The change also creates a clear dividing line for collectors. Merchandise from 2025 and earlier represents the completed Xfinity-sponsored era, while 2026 items represent the beginning of the O’Reilly period. Fans looking for a memento of the final Xfinity seasons can browse a NASCAR Xfinity Series diecast, including officially listed 2024 and 2025 models associated with drivers such as Justin Allgaier, William Sawalich, Sammy Smith, and Shane van Gisbergen. Availability, seller, price, and exact branding can change, so shoppers should verify those details before buying; not every model necessarily carries the Xfinity title logo.

Licensed hats, shirts, diecasts, and other NASCAR racing memorabilia can also preserve the 2015–2025 period, but merchandise availability is volatile. A product from the final Xfinity season should be treated as a historical collectible, not as evidence that Xfinity remains the series’ current entitlement sponsor.

What did not change

  • The series remains NASCAR’s second national touring division.
  • It remains separate from the NASCAR Cup Series and Craftsman Truck Series.
  • The series did not disappear after the 2025 championship.
  • Xfinity remains involved in NASCAR through Comcast’s broader partnerships.
  • The Xfinity name remains correct when describing the 2015–2025 seasons.

What changed in 2026

  • The official series name became the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series.
  • O’Reilly Auto Parts became the new entitlement sponsor.
  • The 2026 schedule contains 33 races.
  • The CW holds exclusive broadcast rights for the 2026 series.
  • O’Reilly introduced its race-win and season-bonus program.

Current race results, standings, bonus totals, broadcast details, and event times can change during the 2026 season. Those details should be checked against NASCAR and The CW’s current listings rather than treated as permanent.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Xfinity Series gone?

No. NASCAR’s second-tier national series continues in 2026 under the official name NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series. Xfinity stopped being the title sponsor after the 2025 season.

When was the last NASCAR Xfinity Series season?

The 2025 season was the 11th and final season with Xfinity as the series entitlement sponsor. The series changed names on January 1, 2026.

Did Xfinity leave NASCAR completely?

No. Comcast remains a NASCAR Cup Series Premier Partner, while Xfinity, Xfinity Mobile, and Xumo continue to have roles through Cup, wireless, streaming, and team partnerships.

Why did O’Reilly replace Xfinity?

NASCAR and O’Reilly announced a multiyear entitlement agreement, but the companies did not publicly disclose a detailed financial or strategic explanation for the change. O’Reilly’s automotive-parts business and existing motorsports involvement make it a natural category fit.

The Bottom Line

The Xfinity name has ended on NASCAR’s second-tier series, but the series has not ended—and neither has Comcast’s relationship with NASCAR. The 2025 championship closed an 11-year Xfinity era; the 2026 season began a new chapter as the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series, with a 33-race schedule, exclusive CW coverage, and a race-by-race bonus program tied to O’Reilly’s 1957 founding year.
