Wink Mark3: Car-Like Features, Solar Charging Claims and the Limits of a 25 mph LSV

Wink’s Mark3 offers car-like features and optional solar charging, but it is a 25 mph low-speed vehicle with manufacturer-estimated range and state-dependent road rules.

Wink’s current Mark3 is a four-passenger, five-door hatchback with air conditioning, keyless entry and start, Bluetooth calling and music streaming, USB, and FM radio. It is rated to a top speed of 25 mph, which places it in the low-speed vehicle (LSV) category rather than among conventional full-speed cars. Solar charging is a real option Wink offers on some configurations, but the current product page lists the displayed variant as “No Solar,” so solar is not part of every Mark3 you can buy. Every range, charging, and solar figure below is Wink’s own claim, not an independent test result.

What the current Mark3 includes

Wink’s current Mark3 product page describes a compact, enclosed cabin with a fold-down rear seat and the comfort and convenience items most drivers expect in a small car. The table below lists the specifications as Wink publishes them. Wink states that its specifications are subject to change, so check the live page before you rely on any number.

Item Wink’s current listing (Mark3 product page)
Seating and body Four passengers, five doors, hatchback with a fold-down rear seat
Top speed 25 mph
Battery 11.5 kWh LFP (lithium iron phosphate)
Maximum range About 75–85 miles, a manufacturer estimate
Dimensions 132 × 58 × 64 inches
Climate and controls Air conditioning, keyless entry and start, power-assisted steering
Audio and connectivity Bluetooth hands-free calling and music streaming, USB, FM radio
Safety-related feature Pedestrian warning sound
Cargo volume Not stated in the product page excerpt reviewed
Solar Optional on some configurations; the displayed variant is “No Solar”

The range figure is the one most readers will compare against a car, and it needs the most context. Wink presents 75–85 miles as a maximum estimate. No independent range test is established for the Mark3 in the sources reviewed, and real-world range will depend on load, temperature, terrain, and how the vehicle is driven.

Charging from a household outlet

The Mark3 has a built-in charger and is designed to plug into an ordinary household outlet. The product page describes a 110 V household outlet and a 220 V appliance outlet, and says the 220 V connection is faster. Wink’s FAQ puts a charge from 30% to 80% at about four hours from 110 V.

Rear metal spring suspension absorbs shocks effectively, ensuring a smoother, more comfortable ride even on rough ground.
  • Spacious Two-Seater for Big Kids: With an overall size of 55"L × 35"W × 31"H and a 20.5" wide seat, this UTV easily fits two children or one older rider up to 132 lbs (60 kg). Each seat is equipped with a 3-point safety belt for added protection during bumpy rides, offering both safety and comfort for growing kids ages 6 and up.

Treat that four-hour figure as Wink’s estimate for one charge scenario. The product page does not give a 220 V charging time, and the sources reviewed do not establish charging times for other outlets or conditions. If you plan to charge at home every night, check whether your outlet and circuit are suitable before you buy, and consult a licensed electrician if you need a 220 V connection.

How solar charging works on a Wink, and what it can add

Wink’s FAQ says solar-equipped models charge from sunlight and describes solar as an optional built-in feature rather than standard equipment. The company estimates that solar and ambient light can add 40–80 miles of range per week, depending on sun conditions. The same FAQ says solar efficiency can be greatly affected by the intensity of available sunlight.

  • This tricycle has a range of 60 to 70 kilometers on a single charge, offering excellent value for money. It features an ergonomic seat, handlebars designed to fit the natural curve of the hands, and quiet operation.
  • This electric tricycle is not only a practical mode of transportation, but also a sustainable alternative to gasoline-powered cars and motorcycles—it reduces emissions and helps create a cleaner environment.

In practical terms, the figure is a best-case range for a week with good sun, not a fixed daily gain. A cloudy region, a shaded parking spot, or a short-day season will produce less. The estimate is also tied to a solar-equipped configuration, so a Mark3 without solar will not receive it.

Check the configuration before you count on solar

  • Confirm in the purchase documents that the exact vehicle you are buying includes the solar option.
  • Ask for the solar contribution in writing if it affects your charging plan.
  • Do not count solar miles as a substitute for plugging in on days with little sun.

Running cost: Wink’s electricity estimate

Wink’s FAQ estimates that a full charge costs about $0.75 to $1.75, depending on local electricity rates. This is a company estimate, not a universal figure. If you assume the full charge uses the 11.5 kWh pack, the estimate implies roughly 7 to 15 cents per kWh. Compare that with your own utility rate on your bill before you treat it as a running-cost number.

LSV rules: why a low-speed vehicle is not a conventional car

The Mark3’s 25 mph top speed is the main limit on how it can be used. NHTSA, the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, describes the federal LSV category as a four-wheeled vehicle with a speed capability above 20 mph and no more than 25 mph, subject to a gross vehicle weight rating limit. Federal classification is only the starting point. NHTSA also says states have authority to set registration and use rules for roads under their jurisdiction, so the same vehicle can be permitted on some roads in one state and restricted in another.

What Wink says about road use

Wink’s FAQ says most states require a driver’s license to operate its LSVs. It says insurance may be mandatory, and that registration, title, and plates may be required depending on local rules. It also states that the vehicle is not public-road legal in New York.

Questions to answer before buying

  • Which roads you intend to use, and their posted speed limits, since many roads carry limits well above 25 mph.
  • Whether your state or locality allows LSVs on the roads you need, through your state or local motor-vehicle authority.
  • Whether registration, title, plates, and a driver’s license are required where you live.
  • Whether your insurer will write a policy for an LSV and what coverage it requires.

Laws can change and local rules vary, so use the official state or local motor-vehicle authority rather than a summary, including Wink’s, as the final word.

Warranty and service

Wink lists a 2-year/12,000-mile limited vehicle warranty and a 6-year prorated battery warranty on the current Mark3 page. Its FAQ describes warranty exclusions and says service is coordinated through Sprout Service. The sources reviewed do not establish the full terms of either warranty, so read the warranty document you receive and ask which repairs are covered and where service is performed.

Earlier Wink models: historical context only

New Atlas reported on Wink’s earlier vehicles and quoted Wink CEO Mark Dweck on the original design approach: “We started with two existing body designs to avoid reinventing the wheel and reduce tooling costs.” That quote describes the early lineup, not the current Mark3. Its specifications, price, and solar options should not be attributed to earlier Wink models, and the sources reviewed do not establish Dweck’s current role beyond the title given in the original article.

How to compare a Wink with another small electric vehicle

Compare like-for-like model years and configurations, and separate manufacturer claims from independent measurements. Use these axes:

  • Passenger and cargo capacity, with cargo volume stated by the manufacturer
  • Enclosed cabin and climate control
  • Top speed and the road access it allows under local rules
  • Range, battery capacity, and whether the range is a manufacturer estimate or a measured result
  • Household charging time for the outlet you have
  • Whether solar is included on the exact configuration, and the conditions behind its estimate
  • Purchase price, delivery terms, and financing
  • Warranty terms and where repairs are done
  • Local registration, licensing, and insurance requirements

Routine maintenance also matters for any small electric vehicle. Wink advises keeping tires at proper pressure, but the sources reviewed do not specify a recommended pressure for the Mark3, so use the figure in the owner documentation supplied with your vehicle.
