There is no confirmation that the specific modern Porsche 911 GT1 renderings are an official Porsche project or will reach production. A separate real-world reinterpretation does exist: Tuthill’s GT One, inspired by the 1997 911 GT1. It is an independent project, not a Porsche production model.
Have the renderings been confirmed by Porsche?
No Porsche announcement confirming these particular designs was found. The source of the renderings has not been identified, either, so there is no reliable basis to attribute them to a designer or treat them as a preview of a planned car. That is different from Porsche definitively ruling out such a project: no such position is established here.
Renderings can show what a modern GT1-inspired car might look like, but they do not establish that a manufacturer has approved, engineered, or intends to build it. Until Porsche announces a project, these images should be regarded as concepts rather than production plans.
What is Tuthill’s GT One?
Tuthill’s GT One is a separate modern reinterpretation inspired by the 1997 Porsche 911 GT1. In an August 16, 2024 report, The Autopian described it as a road-focused car, distinct from the original’s competition-first character.

The report outlined a four-liter flat-six in naturally aspirated or forced-induction forms, a choice of seven-speed dual-clutch or manual transmission, and carbon-fiber bodywork. It also reported a planned run of 22 examples. Those are specifications and plans reported in 2024; they do not confirm current availability, completed production, or deliveries.
How does the Tuthill project compare with the original GT1?
| Question | 1997 Porsche 911 GT1 and road version | Tuthill GT One, as reported in 2024 |
|---|---|---|
| Connection to the original | Porsche competition car with a road-going homologation version | Independent reinterpretation inspired by the 1997 GT1 |
| Project status | Historical Porsche model | Tuthill project; not a Porsche production model |
| Design emphasis | Competition-focused; the road version retained a race-car character | Reported as focused on road enjoyment |
| Powertrain and transmission | Historical road car had a turbocharged flat-six; the cited source does not establish a choice of transmissions | 2024 report described a four-liter flat-six in naturally aspirated or forced-induction forms, with a seven-speed dual-clutch or manual option |
| Production evidence | Built as a road-going homologation version of the competition car | 22 examples reported as planned in 2024; current production and delivery status not established |
Why the original 911 GT1 was unusual
The 911 GT1 was built around competition, with a road-going version created for homologation; it was not simply an ordinary 911 with a different body. Excellence’s historical feature describes the street car as retaining a race-car-focused layout and cabin, alongside its turbocharged flat-six.

A credible confirmation would need to come from Porsche, such as an official announcement identifying the car and its production intent. A rendering alone—and a separate independent project drawing inspiration from the same racing history—does not establish a Porsche program.
