Does the new Continental Supersports have a manual gearbox?
No. Bentley’s launch information specifies an eight-speed double-clutch gearbox for the production Continental Supersports. The current Bentley model page describes an uprated gearbox but does not identify it as a manual. The published specification is therefore for an automatic dual-clutch transmission, not a manual.
The exact original source and wording behind the CEO teaser could not be verified. Without that source, there is no basis to attribute a specific promise or quote to Bentley CEO Frank-Steffen Walliser, or to say that Bentley has formally considered a manual option. The word “might” in the headline remains speculation, not a production feature announcement.
What Bentley has announced about the Supersports
Bentley positions the Supersports as a focused, two-seat, rear-wheel-drive coupe rather than a conventional four-seat Continental GT. Its enthusiast-oriented configuration does not imply a manual transmission: Bentley’s published launch specification pairs rear-wheel drive and a non-hybrid V8 with the eight-speed double-clutch gearbox.

These are Bentley’s figures on its current model page, accessed 8 October 2026. Bentley notes that configuration can affect weight and performance. Its launch specifications dated 14 November 2025 also list 666 PS and 800 Nm, and specify the eight-speed double-clutch gearbox in the launch information. The figures describe the announced production car, not a manual-transmission variant.

Bentley announced that production is planned to begin in Q4 2026, with first deliveries expected at the start of 2027. The announcement listed intended markets including the UK, EU27 plus Switzerland and Turkey, the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Japan, Oman, Bahrain, the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait. Bentley’s model page says the car is available only in specified markets.
