The Blank Slate is announced at $24,950 before a $1,450 destination charge, but its price, specifications and late-2026 delivery target remain preproduction claims—not proof of a vehicle already on sale and in customers’ hands.
What makes the Slate Truck different?
Slate’s idea is to sell a deliberately spare starting point, then let owners add equipment and change the vehicle’s form. It starts as a two-seat, rear-wheel-drive pickup; Slate says it can be configured or converted into five-seat SUV versions, including Squareback and Fastback forms. That makes the Slate Truck electric pickup less like a conventional trim ladder and more like a platform intended to evolve with its owner.
Slate CEO Peter Faricy described the strategy in the company’s June 24, 2026 release: “Slate gives customers the freedom to buy only what they need today and personalize their vehicle as their needs change tomorrow.” Slate said its Marketplace listed more than 200 accessories at that time, with more than 80% priced below $500. Those counts, prices and availability can change, and the cost of a customized vehicle depends on what the buyer adds.
What is the Slate Truck price?
Slate’s current FAQ lists the Blank Slate at $24,950, plus a $1,450 destination charge. The company says a $300 preorder payment counts toward the final purchase price. Taxes, title, registration, fees and optional equipment can raise the amount paid; the headline figure is not an equipped or delivered total. Confirm current preorder and refund terms directly with Slate before placing an order. Slate FAQ

Die-cast metal body and chassis. Comes in an individual blister pack. Manufacturer's original unopened packaging. Dimensions approximately L-3.375 inches long. Slate also announced a $29,950 starting price for SUV versions in its June 24, 2026 release. Because the company’s strategy relies on conversions and options, comparing that starting figure with another vehicle’s price only tells part of the story. Compare the final configuration you would actually use, including destination, taxes, selected accessories or conversion kit, and any equipment needed for everyday driving. When will the Slate Truck be available?
Slate’s FAQ says first deliveries are expected in late 2026; its June 24, 2026 release specifies Q4 2026. These are company targets for a vehicle still in preproduction, not confirmation that customer deliveries have begun. Slate says it plans to assemble the vehicle at a reindustrialized factory in Warsaw, Indiana, but a factory plan does not establish production or delivery status. Check the company’s latest updates if timing affects a purchase decision. Slate FAQ Slate Auto’s June 24, 2026 release

What is the Slate Truck’s range and charging setup?
Slate advertises a projected range of 205 miles for the standard truck. The company says the approximation uses the EPA test cycle, but it is not an official EPA-estimated range or an independently verified result. Slate’s June 2026 release says the vehicle is in preproduction and specifications may change, so treat 205 miles as a current projection rather than a guaranteed real-world distance. Slate has announced a NACS port and Tesla Supercharger access; actual access and terms should be confirmed as delivery approaches. Slate FAQ Slate Auto’s June 24, 2026 release Slate Auto News and Media
Range alone does not determine whether the truck will work for a particular owner. Consider typical trip length, local charging availability, weather and the cargo or accessories carried. A projected figure from a preproduction vehicle cannot settle those practical questions.

How much can it haul or tow?
Slate publishes projected payload of about 1,550 pounds and towing capacity of 2,000 pounds. It also lists a five-foot bed with 35.1 cubic feet of volume and a seven-cubic-foot front trunk. These are company specifications for a preproduction vehicle, not independently tested results; confirm final ratings and equipment before relying on them for a regular load or trailer. Slate FAQ
The truck is listed as 174.6 inches long, 70.6 inches wide and 68 inches tall, with a 108.9-inch wheelbase. Slate recommends flatbed transport rather than flat towing, warning that flat towing risks damage to the battery and electric motors. Slate FAQ

What is missing from the minimalist cabin?
There is no built-in infotainment system. Slate’s phone-centered approach is to have drivers use their own phones, with mounting and charging provided. That avoids paying for a factory screen and interface, but it also means the experience depends more on a personal device and accessories than on a conventional integrated infotainment setup. Slate describes optional speakers, a tablet bracket and a steering-wheel controller; those are accessories, not reasons to assume every vehicle includes them.
Slate says heating and air conditioning are standard and use analog controls. The company’s stated equipment and accessory lineup may change before production, so verify the exact configuration and included items when ordering. Slate FAQ

Is the Slate Truck a good value?
It could suit a buyer who values a low announced starting price, an electric pickup format and the ability to add or change equipment over time. It is a less straightforward proposition for someone who wants a fully equipped vehicle, a settled range figure or a confirmed delivery date today. A fair comparison should account for the vehicle as it will actually be used rather than comparing bare starting prices.
- Delivered cost: Include destination, taxes, registration, desired accessories and any SUV conversion.
- Usable range and charging: Consider local charging and the distance you routinely drive, not only the projected figure.
- Work utility: Check whether the published payload, towing and bed dimensions fit the loads or trailer involved.
- Daily equipment: Decide whether a phone-based cabin and optional audio approach match your expectations for comfort and convenience.
- Ownership confidence: Weigh the delivery target, final warranty terms and local service availability.
TechCrunch’s June 24, 2026 coverage discussed the Blank Slate alongside lower-priced EVs such as the Chevrolet Bolt and Nissan Leaf and noted another low-cost electric truck as a forthcoming comparison point. Pricing and availability for competing vehicles are time-sensitive, so those comparisons need current figures and like-for-like equipment before they can establish which is the better buy. TechCrunch, June 24, 2026
What remains uncertain?
Slate’s June 2026 materials describe a preproduction vehicle and say specifications may change. The advertised 205-mile range is not an official EPA estimate. Slate says the vehicle is “designed to achieve a 5-star USNCAP crash rating”; that is a design goal, not an awarded crash rating. The published price, equipment, warranty, service network and delivery schedule should therefore be checked against final production information. Slate Auto’s June 24, 2026 release Slate FAQ
Slate has announced a 10-year/110,000-mile battery and powertrain warranty and access to a RepairPal service network. Those are company-stated ownership provisions; confirm final warranty wording, eligibility and service coverage for the vehicle and location in question. The company has also reported more than 180,000 reservation holders, a company-reported reservation count—not sales or completed vehicle orders.
