The Ultra Limited is missed because it packaged a complete two-up touring setup, including a two-helmet luggage carrier, heated grips, cruise control, linked ABS brakes, and a familiar model name, into one motorcycle. Harley-Davidson’s 2026 model-year lineup no longer lists that name. The company’s pages document the change but do not explain it, and no source measures how many owners share the sentiment. What the Ultra Limited was
The Ultra Limited started as the 2010 FLHTK Electra Glide Ultra Limited. Harley-Davidson’s own touring history describes it as the most well-appointed Touring model outside the CVO range at the time, and calls it “the gold standard of the line.” The name was later shortened to Ultra Limited. Harley’s touring history page is the primary source for that positioning.
Harley’s model code guide still recognizes FLHTK as Electra Glide Ultra Limited / Ultra Limited in its list of popular past and present models. That matters for anyone searching used examples, because the code is how you separate this model from other Electra Glides.
What the 2026 lineup shows
Harley-Davidson’s 2026 model-year details page lists Street Glide Limited and Road Glide Limited under Grand American Touring, with no Ultra Limited entry. The company’s January 14, 2026 announcement describes both as deluxe Grand American Touring motorcycles for riders who prioritize luxury, performance, and long-haul comfort. The announcement is also the source for the wording Harley uses to describe them: “optimized for customers who prioritize luxury, performance and long-haul comfort for both rider and passenger.” That is the company’s own promotional language, not a statement from a named spokesperson.

Two points are settled by these pages. The Ultra Limited name is not in the 2026 lineup, and the two Limited models are the current deluxe long-haul touring bikes. Neither page says why the name was retired, and none says whether a future model year will bring it back.
Why the old package is missed
The nostalgia rests on specific equipment rather than the name alone. Four strands of Harley’s own material explain it.

A two-up carrier sized for passengers
Harley’s 2019 Touring e-brochure gives the Ultra Limited’s Tour-Pak carrier a stated capacity of two full-face helmets. For a rider who regularly carries a passenger, that detail is the core of the appeal: the bike was built to haul a second person’s gear, not just to offer a passenger seat.
Comfort equipment that works in cold and heat
The same 2019 brochure lists heated hand grips. Harley’s 2020 catalog pairs heated grips and a roomy Tour-Pak with a vented batwing fairing and the Twin-Cooled Milwaukee-Eight 114 engine. Those are the features that make long days in mixed weather more manageable, and they are why owners tend to remember the bike as a complete touring machine.

Braking, suspension, and cruise control
The 2019 brochure also identifies cruise control, linked Brembo brakes with ABS, and responsive suspension. Linked braking and cruise control are the kind of rider-assist features that are easy to take for granted until they are compared against other bikes in the range.
A distinct identity inside the Electra Glide family
“Ultra Limited” told buyers which branch of the Electra Glide line they were getting. Harley’s touring history also credits the 2009 Touring frame redesign with improved handling and seating position, and the 2014 Project Rushmore program with weight reduction, Boom! Box infotainment, one-touch saddlebag operation, redesigned aerodynamics, and Twin-Cooled engines on specific models. The name and the engineering story reinforced each other.

The evidence supports a narrow claim. The Ultra Limited combined useful two-up touring equipment under a familiar name, and riders who valued that combination may feel its loss. The sources do not show that the old bike was objectively better than its successors.

The Street Glide Limited and Road Glide Limited are the closest current equivalents, but they are not one-for-one replacements. Harley’s 2026 announcement says both have a Milwaukee-Eight VVT 117 engine, a redesigned Grand Tour-Pak, Skyline OS with embedded navigation, premium Harley-Davidson audio, and new comfort features. Read the table with two cautions. The fairing choice is the most visible difference: the Street Glide uses the batwing, the Road Glide uses the sharknose, and Harley’s 2026 touring overview confirms both styles are available across the touring range. The Ultra Limited’s features come from different model years, so the column reflects its documented equipment, not a single year’s specification.
The 2025 Street Glide Ultra is a separate model
Harley’s 2025 Street Glide Ultra product page lists heated grips, a two-up comfort seat, a standard King Tour-Pak, passenger armrests, and 4.9 cubic feet of combined storage across the luggage carrier, fairing cubbies, and saddlebags. That shows the “Ultra” touring idea continued under another name in 2025. It is a 2025 specification and should not be carried over to other model years, and the page does not establish it as the 2026 successor to the Ultra Limited.
What the evidence does not establish
- Harley-Davidson’s pages do not state a reason for ending the Ultra Limited name. Any commercial or engineering explanation would be speculation.
- No rider survey or independent statistic in the official sources measures how many owners miss the Ultra Limited.
- Pricing and current dealer inventory are outside what these pages document, so this article makes no price comparison.
If you are shopping for a carrier or a used example
Readers who want the old two-up setup usually search for a Tour-Pak carrier or a used FLHTK. Before buying, check the following.
