Cybertrucks make eye-catching rentals, and Turo lets owners and fleet operators list vehicles at rates they set. Those two factors help explain the listings—but a visible search page does not reveal how many trucks are actually booked or whether their hosts make money.
Why hosts put Cybertrucks on Turo
The truck sells an experience
The Cybertruck’s unusual design and high-end positioning can make it an experience-oriented rental, not just a way to get from A to B. InsideEVs quoted fleet operator Dustin Liu saying, “People rent on Turo for luxury and for experience, both of which the Cybertruck provides.” That is Liu’s explanation, not evidence that all or most Cybertruck hosts share the same motivation. Fleet operators can add several vehicles
InsideEVs reported that Liu operated a 90-car rental fleet, with 65 vehicles listed on Turo. The article also said he had bought five Cybertrucks and ordered 20 more. This illustrates how one multi-car operator could contribute several listings; it does not establish how common fleet ownership is, or whether the additional orders were delivered and listed.
Owners can set their own rates
Turo says local owners set the daily rate. The displayed price can also vary with the vehicle’s year, trip length, extras, and delivery; the platform describes discounts for longer trips and a 10% non-refundable discount for bookings made at least four days in advance. What the listings do—and don’t—show
Turo’s U.S. Cybertruck category page displays a changing selection of model years and hosts. It is a live marketplace view, not a complete count of available trucks, completed bookings, or booked days. A listing can be visible without showing how often the vehicle rents.
For the same reason, the page cannot establish host profitability. A meaningful calculation would need booked days and realized prices alongside financing, depreciation, insurance, repairs, cleaning, downtime, and platform-related costs. The available listing information does not provide that complete picture.

Renting for income is a general owner motive, not proof about Cybertrucks
Turo’s 2025 Canada Car Ownership Index reported that 44% of surveyed Canadian owners willing to rent their owned or leased car cited extra income, while 25% said they would rent to offset ownership or lease costs. These figures describe surveyed Canadian owners broadly—not U.S. respondents, Cybertruck owners, or actual hosts’ earnings. Turo’s 2025 Canada Car Ownership Index
Why a lower posted price does not settle the demand question
Carconomics recorded 80 price cuts since August 16 for one 2025 Cybertruck listing in Los Angeles, with the largest single cut at 21.4%; its page was accessed October 8, 2026. This is an observation of one listing’s asking-price changes, not a market-wide pattern. Repricing alone cannot show whether demand is weak, whether the truck is booking, or whether its host is profitable. Carconomics

What Tesla’s production figure tells us
In its January 2025 investor presentation, Tesla said its 4680 cell production rate exceeded 2,500 Cybertrucks per week. That is a dated, company-reported production-rate figure. It provides context about manufacturing at that time, but does not establish current Cybertruck sales or deliveries, used-vehicle supply, or the number of trucks listed on Turo. Rental terms depend on the listing and applicable platform rules. Turo’s U.S. FAQ says renters need approval and a valid license; age requirements may differ for higher-value vehicle classes, and distance limits are listing-specific. The platform also describes a trip-fee exception for rentals of 30 days or longer, with exceptions in parts of Los Angeles and New York.
