The figures describe different things, not a sudden loss of power. Porsche says the all-electric Taycan Turbo GT can deliver up to 815 kW for two seconds under its peak-power measurement method; a 2026 AutoNext report says German registration papers list 220 hp, a figure it attributes to a 30-minute rating. The registration document itself has not been independently verified here, so the 220-hp number should be treated as a reported figure—not as a directly confirmed government finding.
Why the figures do not conflict
A peak-power figure and a rating based on sustained output answer different questions. Porsche’s launch materials give the Turbo GT a 580 kW manufacturer specification, up to 760 kW with Launch Control overboost, and a peak of up to 815 kW for two seconds under the stated peak-power method. AutoNext says the 220-hp registration figure reflects a 30-minute rating.
In other words, the 220-hp figure, as reported, is not a claim that the car can never produce more power briefly. It represents a different rating basis from Porsche’s short-duration performance headline. AutoNext frames the distinction as peak output under UN Global Technical Regulation No. 21 versus a 30-minute rating under UN Regulation No. 85. The underlying registration document and primary regulatory text were not independently checked, so that explanation should remain attributed to AutoNext.
What Porsche’s power figures mean

The 815 kW figure is not continuous output: Porsche explicitly gives it a two-second duration. Porsche Deutschland’s current model page instead shows up to 760 kW / 1,034 PS with Launch Control overboost. That live consumer specification is distinct from the 2024 release’s two-second 815 kW peak. PS and hp are different unit labels, so the German page’s 1,034 PS should not be silently relabeled as 1,034 hp.

Why output can depend on measurement conditions
The rating standard and the time over which output is measured are only part of the comparison. AutoNext notes that peak system output can be affected by battery charge, temperature and cooling. Porsche’s product page also specifies that Attack Mode conditions include a state of charge above 30% and battery temperature above 10°C; those conditions apply to Attack Mode and should not be generalized to every power figure.
When comparing numbers, check whether each is a peak or sustained rating, which measurement method is being used, and what operating conditions apply. Also distinguish manufacturer performance figures from a current consumer specification and from a number reported on registration papers.

The Taycan Turbo GT is an all-electric sports sedan. Porsche also offers a Weissach package variant, described by the company as track-oriented and without a rear seat. In its March 2024 launch materials, Porsche quoted 0–100 km/h in 2.3 seconds for the Turbo GT and 2.2 seconds for the Weissach version. Porsche attributes the higher rear-axle output to a 900-amp pulse inverter using silicon carbide.
Porsche’s stated figures describe the car’s performance under the company’s specified methods; they do not independently verify the separate registration-paper figure reported by AutoNext. Porsche Taycan Model Line Vice President Kevin Giek said the Laguna Seca and Nordschleife records showed the car’s “great track potential.” That is Porsche’s characterization of track performance, not an independent confirmation of either power-rating method.
