Harley-Davidson’s 2025 U.S. cruiser range offers seven distinct models, from a stripped-down bobber to a fairing-equipped cruiser and a classic touring-style machine. The company labels the range “Cruiser” on its lineup page; its owner-manual search result groups these models under Softail designations. The breadth comes from different styles and equipment choices, alongside shared updates including three Milwaukee-Eight 117 engine variants, standard Rider Safety Enhancements, selectable Ride Modes, retuned suspension, upgraded electronics and all-LED lighting. These are manufacturer descriptions and specifications, not independent road-test findings.
What makes the 2025 range more versatile?
“Versatile” here means choice within one model-year family, not a measured ranking. Harley-Davidson lists seven U.S. cruisers: Street Bob, Low Rider S, Low Rider ST, Breakout, Fat Boy, Heritage Classic and Fat Boy Gray Ghost. The models span minimalist, performance-oriented, fairing-equipped, classic touring and heavyweight styling. Their shared technical updates provide a common baseline, while engine tune, wind protection, luggage and riding position help distinguish their roles.
Harley-Davidson says the 2025 range uses three Milwaukee-Eight 117 variants: Classic, High Output and Custom. The lineup also includes standard Rider Safety Enhancements, selectable Ride Modes, retuned suspension, upgraded electronics and all-LED lighting. Model-specific equipment and published output vary.
How do the models differ?
| Model | Engine and Harley-Davidson-listed output | Wind protection and utility | Published seat height and fuel economy |
|---|---|---|---|
| Street Bob | Milwaukee-Eight 117 Classic; 98 hp and 120 ft-lb torque | Lean bobber style, mini-ape handlebars and mid-mounted controls; no luggage or windshield detail established here | 25.8-inch laden seat height; 47 mpg |
| Low Rider S | Milwaukee-Eight 117 High Output; 114 hp and 128 ft-lb torque | Stripped-down, blacked-out performance styling; solo seat | Not stated here; 47 mpg |
| Low Rider ST | Milwaukee-Eight 117 High Output; 114 hp and 128 ft-lb torque | FXRT-inspired frame-mounted fairing and storage; solo seat | Not stated here; 47 mpg |
| Heritage Classic | Milwaukee-Eight 117 Classic; 98 hp and 120 ft-lb torque | Lockable, weather-proof saddlebags and detachable windshield | Not stated here; 47 mpg |
| Fat Boy | Milwaukee-Eight 117 Custom; 104 hp and 126 ft-lb torque | Wide wheels and heavyweight styling; Road, Rain and Sport Ride Modes | 25.9-inch laden seat height; 47 mpg |
| Breakout | Not stated here | Not stated here | Not stated here |
| Fat Boy Gray Ghost | Not stated here | Not stated here | Not stated here |
All figures in the table are specifications or fuel-economy figures published by Harley-Davidson for 2025, not independent measurements. The 47 mpg figure is the manufacturer’s listed figure; it should not be treated as a guarantee of real-world economy. Details for Breakout and Fat Boy Gray Ghost are not provided here beyond their inclusion in Harley-Davidson’s U.S. lineup.

Which role fits each cruiser?
Street Bob: the stripped-down option
Harley-Davidson presents the Street Bob as a lean bobber, with mini-ape handlebars and mid-mounted controls. Its Milwaukee-Eight 117 Classic output is listed at 98 hp and 120 ft-lb of torque, and its laden seat height at 25.8 inches. The 2025 model adds selectable Ride Modes, LED lighting and a four-inch display; tubeless-laced wheels with TPMS are listed as available. This is the clearest fit for a rider prioritizing a relatively simple, bobber-style presentation over built-in touring equipment.
Low Rider S: performance styling without the ST fairing
The Low Rider S pairs blacked-out, stripped-down styling and a solo seat with the Milwaukee-Eight 117 High Output engine. Harley-Davidson lists 114 hp and 128 ft-lb of torque. Its role in the lineup is the more performance-oriented cruiser without the ST’s frame-mounted fairing and storage.

Low Rider ST: fairing and storage for longer rides
The Low Rider ST keeps the High Output engine and adds an FXRT-inspired, frame-mounted fairing and storage. Harley-Davidson lists the same 114 hp and 128 ft-lb figures as for the Low Rider S. The company says the fairing was developed using computational fluid dynamics to improve airflow and help reduce wind fatigue; that is a manufacturer claim, not an independent comfort assessment.
Heritage Classic: touring utility with a removable windshield
The Heritage Classic combines vintage styling with lockable, weather-proof saddlebags and a detachable windshield. Harley-Davidson describes it as suited to a weekend trip or a stripped-down ride around town. Its preload adjustment is described as accommodating an added passenger or loaded bags, making this the lineup’s most explicitly touring-oriented option among the models detailed here.
Rank #3
Fat Boy: heavyweight presence and three ride modes
The Fat Boy stands apart with wide wheels and a heavyweight profile, using the Milwaukee-Eight 117 Custom engine. Harley-Davidson lists 104 hp, 126 ft-lb of torque and a 25.9-inch laden seat height. Its selectable modes are Road, Rain and Sport, and the page also lists USB-C charging.
Breakout and Fat Boy Gray Ghost: listed, but not detailed here
Both appear on Harley-Davidson’s 2025 U.S. cruiser lineup page. Specific specifications and equipment for these two models are not established in the model information summarized here, so a close comparison requires checking their current official model pages.
Rank #4
How to choose among them
- Choose for a minimalist bobber look: start with the Street Bob.
- Choose performance-oriented styling without a fairing: compare the Low Rider S.
- Choose a fairing and storage: consider the Low Rider ST.
- Choose built-in touring equipment and flexibility: look at the Heritage Classic’s saddlebags and detachable windshield.
- Choose a distinctive heavyweight profile: the Fat Boy has the wide-wheel styling and its own 117 Custom tune.
Those distinctions describe equipment and design, not a claim that one model is universally more comfortable, capable or suitable. Test fit and current local availability matter, and prices are not included because no dated local figure is established here.
