John Deere is the equipment brand of Deere & Company, an independent, publicly traded corporation—not a subsidiary of another farm-equipment or auto company. Deere manufactures in the United States and internationally. One specifically documented site, Horicon Works in Wisconsin, builds certain John Deere lawn tractors and mowers, but that does not establish where every Deere tractor or mower is made.
Who owns John Deere?
Deere & Company owns the John Deere brand. It is incorporated in Delaware, and its common stock trades on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol DE, according to the company’s 2025 Form 10-K. Deere reported 270,445,437 common shares outstanding as of November 28, 2025.
Because Deere is publicly traded, its shareholders collectively own the company. The company’s 2026 proxy statement reports the following large beneficial owners as of December 30, 2025:
| Beneficial owner | Share of outstanding common stock | As of |
|---|---|---|

These are dated ownership figures, not a permanent roster. None of the listed holders is identified as a parent company that owns Deere outright.

Are John Deere tractors made in the USA?
Some Deere equipment is made in the United States, and Deere also operates manufacturing facilities in other countries. So “all John Deere tractors are made in the USA” is too broad. The company’s locations and manufacturing information describes U.S. operations, including Harvester Works in East Moline, Illinois; Des Moines Works in Ankeny, Iowa; and Deere Seeding in Moline, Illinois.
Deere’s April 2026 account describes U.S. manufacturing investments: a 385,000-square-foot renovation at Harvester Works for X9 combine production, a 138,000-square-foot expansion of large-sprayer assembly at Des Moines Works, and investment in a new row-unit product line in Moline. These examples confirm production activity at those sites; they are not a complete list of tractor or mower assembly locations.

Where are John Deere lawn tractors and mowers made?
Horicon Works, Wisconsin
For specific residential lawn equipment, Deere identifies Horicon Works in Horicon, Wisconsin, as the production site for X300, 500, 700, and 900 series lawn tractors and walk-behind greens mowers. The facility also makes Gator utility vehicles, attachments, and components. Deere says lawn-and-garden tractor production began there in 1963. Its Horicon Works factory profile gives this product-specific information.
The Horicon plant’s product list should not be read as a statement about every Deere lawn mower or tractor. It establishes the origin of the named product families, not all equipment sold under the John Deere name.

How to check the origin of a specific Deere machine
For larger agricultural tractors, other mower ranges, and other equipment families, the public information cited here does not provide a complete, current model-by-model country-of-origin list. Check the documentation for the exact model or the machine’s identification plate before assigning it a factory or country. A general statement about Deere’s worldwide manufacturing footprint cannot answer where a particular unit was assembled.
