Indian Motorcycle is now a standalone company; Polaris retained a small equity position. The companies did not disclose the sale price or exact ownership split.
Who bought Indian Motorcycle?
The buyer is Carolwood LP, an independent private equity firm based in Los Angeles. Polaris announced the completed sale on February 2, 2026. Although Polaris first announced the planned transaction in October 2025, the February announcement confirms that it closed.
Polaris described Carolwood as a multi-strategy firm founded in 2014. The company said Carolwood seeks assets with repositioning potential and long-term growth opportunities, and has infrastructure to help businesses become standalone companies. Those are Polaris’s descriptions of the buyer, not an independent assessment of its strategy.
What changed in the ownership?
Indian Motorcycle separated from Polaris and became a standalone business focused solely on motorcycles, according to the companies. Polaris retained a small equity position, but the parties did not publish an exact percentage or additional transaction terms. The sale price was not disclosed.
