There is no universal Porsche settings list after an infotainment retrofit. The right setup depends on your model year, original PCM or CDR generation, retrofit product and revision, and installed audio, camera, and control equipment. Start with the exact unit’s manual: a Porsche PCCM Plus has a required first-use teach-in, while third-party interfaces may use product-specific switches and integration menus. Never apply another kit’s switch chart to your car.
Before changing settings, identify the system you installed
Write down the Porsche model and year, the original PCM or CDR generation, the retrofit make and model (including hardware revision), and the fitted amplifier, camera, and steering-wheel controls. Use those details to find the matching manual. Settings described below apply only to the named systems, not to every Porsche retrofit.
Retrofits generally fall into three categories: an OEM-style replacement such as Porsche PCCM Plus, a hidden interface that adds phone projection to the original PCM, or a full aftermarket head unit. Compatibility with the car’s PCM/CDR generation and installed equipment—and whether workshop coding is required—varies by product. The available documentation does not establish a complete compatibility matrix across Porsche models, so confirm fitment with the retrofit manufacturer or a qualified installer before changing configuration.
Settings and checks to handle after installation
1. Run the PCCM Plus first-use teach-in if that is your unit
Porsche says the teach-in is required on first use of PCCM Plus to support its full range of functions. On that system, go to HOME > Car > Set > System > Configure PCCM Plus > Auto-configure PCCM Plus, start the procedure, engage reverse gear when prompted, and confirm. The process checks peripherals, including vehicle type, rear camera, and antenna. Follow the PCCM Plus operating manual for the exact prompts.

2. Enable only equipment the car actually has
For PCCM Plus, Individual Memory configuration covers automatic climate control, rear wiper, rain sensor, and multifunction steering wheel. The manual describes Individual Memory for the 911 Type 997, Boxster Type 987, and Cayman Type 987. Enable only functions supported by the specific car; selecting absent equipment can lead to controls or displays that do not match the vehicle.
3. Match interface switches to the module label
A documented six-switch PCM 3.0 IMI-1000 interface uses switches 3 and 4 for CAN-bus configuration and switches 5 and 6 for display resolution. Switches 1 and 2 select the OEM or aftermarket microphone. These assignments are specific to that documented module family: the installer warns that switch layouts differ between modules. Check the label and exact IMI-1000 installation guide rather than copying a setting from a different interface.

An incorrect CAN-bus setting can cause vehicle errors or prevent starting; an incorrect display resolution can result in a black or incorrectly sized image. If either occurs, stop changing unrelated settings and verify the module’s configuration against its own instructions.
4. Set the microphone to match the hardware installed
On the same IMI-1000 switch configuration, choose OEM microphone if the retrofit uses the original microphone, or aftermarket microphone if the new microphone is installed and connected. Test a call and voice-assistant pickup. Poor or absent voice pickup is a reason to check microphone selection and connection, not to assume the switch mapping applies to another kit.

5. Configure camera behavior only when a camera is fitted
The CTUPO02 Infodapter menu offers camera type, automatic or reverse-only activation, guide lines, reverse priority between park-assist graphics and the camera image, and camera delay. Those are CTUPO02 options, not universal PCM settings. Configure the menu to match the installed camera and sensor arrangement, then check image and sensor behavior while stationary. Follow the retrofit’s safety instructions; do not rely on a camera image alone when reversing. See the CTUPO02 guide.
6. Assign and test retained steering-wheel controls
On CTUPO02, the steering-wheel diamond button can be assigned functions such as source or track selection. Its guide also says the OEM instrument-cluster menu must assign that button to a radio function. After setup, test volume, track, phone, voice control, and any programmable button. Other interfaces can use different mappings.

7. Verify audio across sources and the fitted system
Play audio from each source you expect to use and confirm the retrofit works with the car’s actual amplifier and speakers. PCCM Plus has separate volume settings for Bluetooth, tuner, navigation, and USB. With aftermarket integrations, amplifier retention and audio wiring depend on the vehicle system and interface; do not assume a Bose/MOST-equipped car is configured like a base audio system. 8. Pair the phone using the procedure for your retrofit
Phone projection setup differs between factory PCM and third-party interfaces. For the model years covered by Porsche’s US CarPlay support page, the factory PCM process starts at Devices > Connect New Devices; then confirm pairing under iPhone Settings > General > CarPlay. If wireless pairing fails, Porsche advises reconnecting from PCM Devices or removing the vehicle from Bluetooth and deleting the phone in PCM before pairing again. These directions are scoped to the models on Porsche’s CarPlay guide; a retrofit interface may require a different procedure. Test the connection mode—wired or wireless—that your retrofit actually supports.

9. Record a working setup before changing advanced options
PCCM Plus exposes system-version information and a factory reset. Its manual warns that a reset deletes settings made after delivery. Record successful settings before experimenting, and do not enter undocumented coding values to troubleshoot a symptom. If the interface has its own version screen or reset process, consult that product’s manual rather than assuming PCCM Plus behavior applies.
10. Treat workshop coding as vehicle-specific
Some PCM 3.1 installation or conversion procedures include equipment restrictions, enabling codes, and PIWIS coding. The correct requirements depend on the VIN, PCM generation, and installed options. If your retrofit calls for coding, use the procedure matched to that configuration or have a qualified Porsche installer perform it; do not infer coding from a post about a different model. The PCM installation and conversion instructions describe those restrictions.

- Black or badly sized display: verify the interface’s display-resolution setting against its own module label and manual.
- Vehicle errors or a no-start condition after installation: stop experimenting and have the CAN-bus configuration and installation checked against the exact interface instructions.
- Weak or missing voice pickup: verify that the selected microphone matches the connected hardware.
- Camera or parking-assist behavior is unexpected: check camera type, activation mode, reverse priority, guide lines, and delay—but only in a product menu that documents those options.
- Phone projection will not connect: use the retrofit’s pairing instructions; use Porsche’s PCM recovery steps only if the car’s factory system and model-year scope match.
- Audio is missing or unbalanced: confirm source volume and that the interface retains the car’s actual amplifier and audio path.
Keep a setup record
Once everything works, note the retrofit model and revision, switch positions if applicable, enabled vehicle equipment, camera and button assignments, phone-pairing method, and any coding performed. This gives an installer a concrete baseline if a later fault appears and helps avoid repeating changes that did not solve the original issue.
