Several production sedan variants have manufacturer-claimed top speeds above 200 mph, but the available evidence does not support a verified list of ten distinct cars. The clearest examples are specific Dodge Charger Hellcat and Bentley Flying Spur versions—and their published figures are manufacturer claims, not a shared set of independent speed-test results.
Which production sedans have documented claims above 200 mph?
The figures below are published specifications or historical claims, not results from a standardized independent comparison. Model year and trim matter, especially when comparing different versions of the same nameplate.
| Model and version | Published top speed | Evidence and qualification |
|---|---|---|
| 2015 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat | 204 mph | Stellantis reported this manufacturer-claimed top speed in 2015; it is not an independently verified test result. Stellantis, 2015 |
| 2021 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye | 327 km/h (about 203 mph) | Dodge/Stellantis stated this claimed top speed in 2020 for the 2021 model. Stellantis Media, 2020 |
| Bentley Flying Spur W12 S | 202 mph | Bentley says it was the first four-door Bentley to exceed 200 mph; its newsroom material gives the W12 S figure as 202 mph. Bentley heritage; Bentley Newsroom, 2018 |
| Bentley Flying Spur W12 variant | 207 mph | A Bentley newsroom page reports this figure, but the precise model year and specification need to be identified before treating it as directly comparable with the W12 S. Bentley Newsroom |
The Bentley figures refer to W12 versions, not automatically to every Flying Spur. Likewise, the Charger SRT Hellcat and SRT Hellcat Redeye are separate trims, not evidence of two unrelated sedan model families. Counting nameplates, model years, or trims produces different totals.
Why the headline’s count of ten is not established
A dated Motor1 list names the Aston Martin Rapide S at 203 mph and the Bentley Flying Spur W12 S at 202 mph, offering secondary context for the topic. It does not establish a complete, current, manufacturer-verified list of ten qualifying sedans. Motor1’s dated fastest-sedans list

There is no single supported ten-entry ranking in the available sources. A defensible list would need to document each qualifying car and use consistent rules for what counts as a sedan, what production status qualifies, whether each trim or nameplate counts separately, and whether speeds are manufacturer claims or independently tested results.
Claimed top speed is not the same as a measured record
A manufacturer specification establishes what the company says a car can reach under its stated configuration; it does not, by itself, demonstrate that an independent tester measured that speed. The Charger and Bentley figures above are manufacturer-backed claims. They should not be presented as a common set of verified records or ranked as though each were tested under identical conditions.

Top-speed specifications can also depend on model year, trim, equipment, tires, and market. A sound comparison keeps those details attached to each number and does not convert a rounded or differently reported figure into proof that a car clears the threshold.
A near-miss: the 2022 BMW M5 CS
The 2022 BMW M5 CS is a natural comparison, but BMW rated it at 190 mph with the standard M Driver’s Package. That configuration does not qualify for a list limited to speeds above 200 mph. BMW Group PressClub USA, 2021

What a credible fastest-sedans ranking needs
- A clear body-style rule: State whether “sedan” includes saloons and other four-door performance cars.
- A counting rule: Specify whether each nameplate appears once or separate model years and trims count as entries; explain whether limited-run production versions are included.
- A consistent evidence standard: Separate manufacturer-claimed speeds from independent instrumented tests and any formally homologated records.
- Exact vehicle details: Identify year, trim, market, and configuration, including relevant tire or equipment conditions when established.
- Careful units and thresholds: Keep the original unit alongside any conversion, and require evidence that a figure is strictly above 200 mph rather than equal to or rounded to 200.
Until ten cars can be documented under those rules, the accurate conclusion is narrower: several specific production-sedan variants have published claims above 200 mph, but a verified top-ten list is not established by these sources.
