But there is no single best Bronco trim for every buyer: the right choice depends on whether you prioritize a lower-complexity configuration, everyday comfort, heritage styling, or more specialized off-road hardware.
Which Bronco trim is coming back for 2025?
Ford announced on July 11, 2024, that the Base trim would return for 2025 after a one-year hiatus. The same announcement said Black Diamond would become a package for Big Bend rather than a standalone trim. Ford’s announcement quoted Bronco Brand Manager Jason Hyde describing the goal as a Bronco that was “more livable everyday and just as capable of off-road adventures.”
Ford’s U.S. 2025 Build & Price page lists seven models: Base, Big Bend, Outer Banks, Heritage Edition, Badlands, Stroppe Edition, and Raptor. Check Ford’s current 2025 Bronco page for available configurations, since build choices and availability can change.
What is the best 2025 Bronco trim?
“Best” depends on the Bronco’s job. Ford’s published specifications help distinguish the lineup, but they are manufacturer descriptions—not independent comparative tests or a ranking of real-world performance.

The engine outputs and equipment above are Ford’s stated 2025 model specifications. They do not, by themselves, show how trims compare in fuel economy, ride comfort, ownership cost, or performance in a particular driving situation. Ford’s current model page is the place to verify the exact configuration you are considering.
Choose Base if body-style choice and a simpler starting point matter
Base is the clearest fit if you want a 2025 Bronco in either two-door or four-door form and do not need the additional off-road hardware Ford lists for Badlands or Raptor. Ford lists the Base 2.3L engine at 300 hp; that figure is a manufacturer rating, not an independent test result.

Choose Badlands if the listed off-road hardware is your priority
Ford lists Badlands with HOSS 2.0, up to seven G.O.A.T. Modes, and a front stabilizer disconnect, in both two-door and four-door configurations. Those are specific equipment distinctions; they should not be read as proof that Badlands will outperform every other trim in every off-road setting.
Consider Outer Banks or Heritage Edition for different on-road priorities
Outer Banks is Ford’s comfort-oriented choice in the lineup, while Heritage Edition leans on heritage styling. If those priorities matter more to you than the equipment Ford highlights for Badlands or Raptor, compare their exact builds and prices rather than assuming a more off-road-focused trim is automatically better.

- 1970 Ford Bronco in a Striking Green Finish!

- 1:64 Scale Diecast Toy Car
Choose Raptor only if its specialized hardware and output fit your needs
Ford lists the Raptor’s 3.0L V6 at 418 hp and specifies HOSS 4.0 and seven G.O.A.T. Modes. That makes it a distinct, high-output option—not a universal upgrade. Whether its configuration makes sense depends on your intended use, budget, and the equipment you actually want.
What changed with the Black Diamond trim?
For 2025, Black Diamond is a package for Big Bend, not a separate trim in Ford’s announced lineup. That distinction matters when comparing vehicles: look at the Big Bend model and its package options rather than searching for Black Diamond as a standalone 2025 trim. Confirm package contents and availability on Ford’s current build page or with a dealer.

How to narrow down your Bronco choice
- Choose the body style first. Ford lists Base and Badlands in two-door and four-door forms; several other trims are listed as four-door. Confirm the exact model-year configuration before making a decision.
- Decide which equipment you will use. If the front stabilizer disconnect and HOSS 2.0 are priorities, compare Badlands. If you want the Raptor’s higher-output engine and HOSS 4.0, compare Raptor.
- Set your everyday priorities. Consider Outer Banks for Ford’s comfort-oriented positioning or Heritage Edition for its styling emphasis.
- Compare the actual builds and current prices. Prices, inventory, order status, and available configurations can change. Check Ford’s current site or confirm details with a dealer before committing.
What Ford’s trim descriptions can—and cannot—tell you
Ford’s published lineup and specifications establish how the manufacturer describes its 2025 models. They do not establish an objective winner for every driver, independently verified performance differences, or a trim’s value for a particular buyer. The practical choice is the model whose body style, stated equipment, comfort priorities, and current price fit your intended use.
