The trade-offs are just as clear—limited room for passengers and cargo, modest power for highway merges, and smartphone-connectivity features that vary by trim.
What the 2024 Venue is—and who it suits
David C. Hayman’s July 13, 2025 review describes a week with a Hyundai-supplied US-market Limited. His verdict is that the Venue is a deliberately basic daily driver, not a small SUV that can do everything. Its compact size and straightforward controls suit urban errands, commuting, and tight parking better than regularly carrying a full cabin or bulky loads. Read the review at Driving On Road.
Consumer Reports likewise describes the 2024 Venue as a very small front-wheel-drive hatchback presented as an SUV. It points to the low starting price, simple controls, standard advanced safety features, and an interior that makes practical use of the car’s small exterior dimensions. See Consumer Reports’ 2024 Venue overview.
Why the small footprint works in town
Hayman reports light steering, good outward visibility, and easy parking in the Limited he drove. Those traits make the Venue convenient to maneuver through crowded streets and into tight spaces. Consumer Reports also notes good forward visibility. The review describes the ride as reasonable and cabin noise at highway speed as acceptable; these are the reviewer’s impressions from that week, not results from a controlled comparison.

Where space and power set limits
Passenger and cargo room
The Venue has seating for five, but Hayman recommends treating it more like a four-person car. The cabin is snug, and cargo capacity is constrained. That may be workable for a driver or small household with routine city needs; it is a less natural fit when rear-seat comfort or frequent hauling is a priority.
Everyday power, not a large reserve
The US-market 2024 model described in the review uses a naturally aspirated 1.6-liter four-cylinder rated at 121 horsepower and 113 lb-ft of torque, paired with a CVT and front-wheel drive. Hayman found it adequate for ordinary driving but said highway merging can require more effort. That is a driving impression, not a measured acceleration result.

| US trim | Price stated in the July 2025 review | Connectivity described in the review |
|---|---|---|
| SE | $19,900 | Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto |
| SEL | $21,900 | Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto |
| Limited | $23,150 in the review’s trim-price summary | Wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto; built-in navigation |
The same article gives two different figures for the tested Limited: $23,050 in its test-car description and $23,150 in its conclusion. Because of that discrepancy, neither should be treated as a definitive price for the test vehicle. Confirm equipment and pricing for the exact car and market; trim features can differ by region.
Hayman found the Limited’s built-in navigation less useful than phone-based alternatives. Its wired phone integration also means a driver who prefers phone navigation may need to connect a cable. The review’s contrast makes trim worth checking: it says SE and SEL have wireless smartphone integration, while Limited has wired connectivity.

How to read the specifications by market
The figures above apply to the US-market 2024 model as described by Driving On Road. Hyundai’s global Venue specification page lists a Smartstream 1.6-liter gasoline engine with 1,598 cc displacement, 123 PS, IVT, front-wheel drive, and five seats. Hyundai cautions that specifications and illustrated features vary by market, trim, powertrain, and selection, so those global figures should not be substituted for US specifications. Check Hyundai’s global Venue specifications.
Is the Venue a good budget SUV?
The 2024 Venue makes the most sense if the priority is a small, straightforward vehicle for everyday city use and the dated review pricing fits the comparison. Its ease of parking, visibility, and simple controls are meaningful benefits in that role. The snug cabin, limited cargo room, and modest power reserve are reasons to look elsewhere if passengers, luggage, or relaxed highway merging matter more. Shoppers should also check the exact trim’s phone connectivity and compare safety equipment, utility, fuel-use figures measured on a comparable basis, and whether all-wheel drive is required; the cited review does not provide a controlled comparison with a specific rival.
