Two electric cars in the available official specifications claim quicker 0–60 mph times than the 2026 Ford Mustang GT benchmark: the Tesla Model 3 Performance and Hyundai IONIQ 5 N. That evidence does not support a reliable list of ten, and these are manufacturer claims—not independent head-to-head test results.
What counts as “faster” than a Mustang GT?
This comparison is about claimed straight-line acceleration from 0 to 60 mph. It does not establish that an EV will win every race, outperform the Mustang on a road course, or offer better overall value. Acceleration figures from different manufacturers may use different procedures, and neither EV claim below is an independently instrumented comparison against the Ford.
The benchmark is the 2026 Mustang GT. Ford lists 480 hp and 415 lb-ft as standard; with the available active-valve performance exhaust, output rises to 486 hp and 418 lb-ft. Those power figures do not by themselves determine which car reaches 60 mph first.
EVs with official acceleration claims quicker than the benchmark
| Vehicle and source | Published 0–60 mph claim | Important conditions |
|---|---|---|
| Tesla Model 3 Performance | 2.9 seconds | Tesla identifies this trim as dual-motor all-wheel drive. Tesla’s page also lists 316 miles of EPA-estimated range. Tesla Model 3 specifications |
| 2026 Hyundai IONIQ 5 N | Approximately 3.25 seconds | Hyundai’s estimate assumes N Launch Control and N Grin Boost. The stated maximum 641 hp is available for 10 seconds with N Grin Boost; Hyundai says actual results vary with options, conditions, driving habits, and vehicle condition. Hyundai IONIQ 5 N specifications |
| 2026 Ford Mustang GT Fastback | Not stated on Ford’s cited specifications page | Benchmark: 480 hp and 415 lb-ft standard, or 486 hp and 418 lb-ft with the available active-valve performance exhaust. Ford lists a starting MSRP of $46,800. Ford Mustang GT specifications |
The two EV times are quicker than the commonly cited sub-four-second Mustang GT benchmark, but Ford’s cited specification page does not publish a directly comparable 0–60 mph figure. Treat the EV numbers as manufacturer-stated claims, not proof from a controlled race.

Why this is not a ten-car ranking
A defensible ten-car list needs a source for each exact model year and trim, plus a clearly labeled acceleration figure and its launch-mode or testing assumptions. The official evidence here establishes only these two EV examples; adding seven more would mean guessing or mixing unverified trims, years, and timing methods.

These specifications answer a narrow question: which named EVs have published 0–60 claims below the Mustang GT’s familiar sub-four-second benchmark? They do not settle a purchase decision. Price, usable range, charging access and speed, passenger utility, braking and handling, and the ability to repeat high performance under sustained use all matter, but the cited specifications do not provide consistent comparisons across those factors.
Rank #2
- SCALE: Precision-crafted 1:38 scale die-cast metal model of the 2006 Ford Mustang GT, measuring approximately 5 inches in length
- AUTHENTIC DESIGN: Detailed exterior features including realistic headlights, grille, and wheels that mirror the iconic 2006 Mustang GT styling
- FUNCTIONAL FEATURES: Working doors that open and close, plus pull-back action motor for interactive play
- CONSTRUCTION: Durable die-cast metal body with plastic components and premium paint finish
- REALISTIC DETAILS: Features accurate wheel design, distinctive Mustang grille, and authentic body styling of the GT model
For a buyer, the practical takeaway is to compare the exact trims and driving conditions behind any acceleration claim, then evaluate the rest of each car on its own merits. A launch-control time is not evidence that an EV is universally quicker in every setting.
