KBB does not publish a ten-pickup ranking in that release, so a list of ten trucks with KBB resale scores for 2025 cannot be verified from its figures. Of the three winners, KBB gives a projected five-year resale value for the Tacoma and Tundra, but not for the Maverick in the award release.
What KBB’s 2025 pickup awards actually show
KBB selects one winner in each of three pickup classes. Its award recognizes projected value retained over the initial five-year ownership period. The release provides specific five-year retention percentages for the Tacoma and Tundra because both also appear in KBB’s overall top ten; it does not state a percentage for the Maverick.

KBB based the award calculations on residual values in its January/February 2025 Official Residual Value Guide. The Tacoma’s 64.1% and the Tundra’s 60.9% are projections, not reported resale transactions or guaranteed sale prices.
Why there is no verified ten-truck list
KBB’s 2025 release provides three pickup category winners, not ten pickup models ranked against one another. Its overall top ten is a mixed-vehicle list. It includes the Tacoma and Tundra, along with the Chevrolet Corvette, Toyota 4Runner, Ford Bronco, Mercedes-Benz G-Class, Honda CR-V, Toyota RAV4, Porsche 911 and Toyota GR Supra. Those other vehicles are not pickups, so the overall list cannot be relabeled as a pickup ranking.
KBB says every vehicle in its 2025 overall top ten is projected to retain about 53% or more of MSRP after five years. That is an overall-list statement, not a separate score for all pickup winners, and it does not fill in the Maverick’s unreported percentage.
How to interpret the three winners by class
Compact: Ford Maverick
The Maverick is KBB’s 2025 compact pickup category winner. The release does not give it a five-year retention percentage, so it is not possible to compare its projected score numerically with the Tacoma or Tundra from these figures alone.
Midsize: Toyota Tacoma
KBB projects that the 2025 Tacoma will retain 64.1% of its MSRP after five years. That figure places it among KBB’s overall top ten for 2025 as well as making it the midsize pickup category winner.
Full-size: Toyota Tundra
KBB projects five-year retention of 60.9% of MSRP for the 2025 Tundra. It is the full-size pickup category winner and, like the Tacoma, appears in KBB’s overall top ten.

What these percentages do—and do not—tell you
A projected residual value is an estimate of what a vehicle may be worth after a defined period; it is not a quote for your truck. A private-party sale, trade-in or dealer sale can produce a different amount. The KBB figures here should therefore be read as award projections for the 2025 models, not as promises of what a particular owner will receive.
The available figures also do not establish a single cross-class order for every pickup: the Maverick has no percentage stated in the release, and KBB’s awards compare winners within compact, midsize and full-size classes. For a ten-model ranking, the underlying dataset would need to specify its vehicles, model years, valuation method and whether it ranks projections or observed depreciation. iSeeCars publishes a separate truck depreciation analysis based on more than three million vehicles and categories including small, midsize, full-size and heavy-duty trucks; the page reviewed is labeled 2026, so those figures are not evidence for a 2025 ranking and should not be combined with KBB’s 2025 projections.
