The Frikar’s European availability expanded in 2025, but those rollout announcements are not evidence that it can still be ordered or that any dealer has stock today. Podbike filed for bankruptcy in May 2025; a successor, TwoZero, says it acquired production assets and plans a limited run of updated vehicles for 2027. Check current ordering, delivery, warranty and service terms directly before treating the Frikar or its successor as available to buy.
Where was the Frikar available in Europe?
Podbike’s 2025 announcements documented a regional rollout, not a current inventory list. In March, the company described eight German dealerships, direct ordering and test rides in Norway, a first Swiss dealer, and distributor agreements in France and Belgium, with deliveries expected before summer. On 14 April, Podbike said orders were open in Austria and Belgium, with delivery expected in July; German customers could arrange assembled home delivery. LEVA-EU’s 3 March 2025 announcement and 14 April 2025 update record those plans.
These dated announcements establish where Podbike was expanding sales in 2025. They do not establish present-day stock, open orders, delivery dates or a working dealer network. Confirm all of those points with a seller before making a purchase decision.
Can you still buy a Frikar?
Podbike announced a bankruptcy filing on 16 May 2025, as reported by New Atlas. The announcement cited financial challenges; reported contributing pressures included rising production costs, supply-chain disruption, slower-than-expected sales and operating expenses. That makes the 2025 rollout a historical snapshot rather than assurance of ongoing sales or support.

TwoZero says Phase Energy acquired Podbike’s production assets, including manufacturing equipment and specialized tools. The successor says it is rebuilding the Frikar concept with updated electronics, software and design fixes, and plans up to 160 Classic Quad units as part of a broader vehicle ecosystem in 2027. Those are company-stated plans, not confirmation of available vehicles or a delivery commitment. See TwoZero’s account of the acquisition and plans, and ask the company directly about ordering, delivery, warranty and servicing before paying or relying on a promised date.
What is the Frikar, and what features does it have?
The Frikar is an enclosed pedal-electric quadcycle. Instead of a chain or belt driving the wheels, pedaling turns a generator; electricity powers two rear hub motors, and a removable battery supplies additional assistance. Podbike/New Atlas reported an electronically limited assisted speed of 25 km/h and approximately 60 km of range per battery. Range is an approximate stated figure, not a guarantee for every rider or condition. New Atlas’s Frikar overview describes the vehicle and its reported specifications.

Reported comfort and visibility equipment includes full lighting with turn indicators, dual side mirrors, a windshield wiper, an interior defogger fan, a carpeted cabin and a removable canopy. The enclosed cabin offers weather protection, but the vehicle’s width and roughly 100 kg weight matter when considering storage, maneuvering and transport.
What did the Frikar cost, and what should buyers verify?
Podbike’s archived product page listed a starting price of €10,916 plus VAT and showed delivery availability in Norway and Germany. This is an archived price, not a current offer; VAT and any delivery or other costs are additional. The archived contact page is available at Podbike’s contact page. Do not use the archived figure as a quote for a current or successor vehicle.

Before treating a Frikar or updated successor as a viable purchase, get direct confirmation of:
- Whether orders are actually open and whether the quoted vehicle is a Podbike Frikar or a TwoZero successor.
- Current price, VAT, delivery charges, delivery date and the conditions under which any date is guaranteed.
- Who provides the warranty, parts, maintenance and post-sale support, given Podbike’s bankruptcy and the successor’s separate plans.
- Vehicle configuration, including battery count, child-seat or cargo setup, and the exact specifications of any updated model.
- Local legal classification and any licensing, registration or other requirements in the country where you will use it.
Does the Frikar count as an e-bike under local law?
New Atlas reported that the Frikar was treated as an e-bike in most of Europe and generally did not require a license or registration there. “Most of Europe” is not a rule you can safely apply to every country, route or vehicle configuration. Confirm classification and applicable requirements with the relevant local authority before riding; the article’s description is not a substitute for country-specific rules.

How should you compare it with other enclosed electric cycles?
Compare vehicles on the details that affect everyday use and purchase risk, not simply their enclosed appearance. For the Frikar, the generator-and-hub-motor architecture, approximate range, 84 cm width, single-adult layout and weather equipment are particularly relevant. Also compare legal status, storage footprint, child or cargo options, visibility, serviceability, price and confidence in delivery and manufacturer support. A planned successor model should be assessed on its own confirmed specifications and sales terms, not assumed to match the original Frikar.
