The Honda Prologue is assembled at General Motors’ Ramos Arizpe plant in Coahuila, Mexico, according to independent press reporting. It is not built in Honda’s own Mexican factories in Celaya and El Salto. Honda describes the electric vehicle as co-developed with GM, which explains why both companies are tied to it, but development partnership and assembly location are different things. Neither company has formally announced the plant choice or the start of production, so the Ramos Arizpe attribution rests on reporting rather than an official statement.
Where the Prologue is assembled
Two independent outlets place Prologue assembly at Ramos Arizpe. GM Authority published a January 16, 2024 report on a Prologue photographed on a factory floor at the Ramos Arizpe plant. El Universal reported on March 14, 2024 that the Prologue was assembled at GM’s Ramos Arizpe plant and cited output figures from Mexico’s national statistics agency, INEGI. Both reports were produced by journalists, not issued by Honda or GM, and El Universal specifically noted that the companies had made no formal announcement of the production start.
Honda’s Mexico plants are a separate matter
Honda operates its own vehicle plants in Mexico, and its official facilities listing names Celaya and El Salto. Neither location is listed as a Prologue site. The table below separates the three facilities that come up when people search this question.

Reporting does not describe Prologue output at either Honda plant, so readers should not assume the vehicle comes from Honda’s own Mexican lines.

Why Honda and GM both appear
The Prologue has three distinct origin points, and each answers a different question:
- Development: Honda’s own Mexico release describes the model as co-developed with GM. Its Spanish wording reads “2024: Inicio de ventas de Honda Prologue desarrollado conjuntamente con GM,” which translates as “2024: start of sales of the Honda Prologue, developed jointly with GM.” That statement covers planned sales and joint development. It does not name the assembly plant.
- Design: Honda’s July 2022 press release introduced the Prologue as the first Honda designed in virtual reality. The announcement also referred to design work involving teams in Los Angeles and Japan. Design locations describe where engineers and designers worked, not where cars are built.
- Assembly: Per reporting, the vehicles are built at GM’s Ramos Arizpe plant.
Co-development means the two companies shared engineering and product work on the vehicle. It does not, on the evidence available, make the Prologue a simple rebadged GM model, and it does not mean the car is built on a Honda production line.

Production volume and its limits
The most specific output figure in the available reporting is 4,063 Prologues produced in Mexico in February 2024, as reported by El Universal and attributed to INEGI. That is a single-month figure from one country’s statistics. It is not a lifetime total, and it is not a current production rate. The reporting does not say whether output has stayed at that level.
What the January 2024 factory photo shows
The GM Authority photograph shows a Prologue on the Ramos Arizpe factory floor. The outlet itself noted that the image alone could not establish whether the vehicle was the first unit built or an early build from pre-series production. Do not read the photo as confirmation of a specific start date.

How to confirm the plant on a specific vehicle
The reporting cited here dates from 2022 to 2024 and does not establish whether assembly has changed since. To verify the origin of a particular car:
- For a U.S.-market vehicle, locate the Monroney window sticker, the label required on new cars sold in the United States.
- Find the line labeled “Final Assembly Point.” It names the city and country where the vehicle was built.
- If the sticker is unavailable, use the vehicle’s purchase or registration paperwork and ask the seller or dealer to confirm the final assembly point in writing.
A sticker entry is more reliable than any press report for the specific car in front of you.
