TVS Motor Company owns Norton Motorcycles. TVS completed its acquisition in April 2020. Norton motorcycles are not made in just one country: in June 2026, TVS said the first Atlas models had rolled out at its Hosur facility in India, while Norton also maintains a manufacturing facility and headquarters in Solihull, England. The available information does not identify the factory for every current model.
Who owns Norton Motorcycles?
Norton is part of India’s TVS Motor Company. TVS announced on 17 April 2020 that it had completed an all-cash acquisition through an overseas subsidiary. The announcement described the deal as the acquisition of certain assets of Norton Motorcycles (U.K.) Limited, which was in administration; it should not be read as confirmation that every asset and liability of the former company transferred unchanged. Norton’s current privacy policy identifies TVS Motor Co. Ltd. as its parent company.
Where are Norton motorcycles made?
Production now has confirmed links to both India and England, but the evidence is model-specific rather than a complete factory-by-factory list.
Atlas: Hosur, India
In a release dated 24 June 2026, TVS said the first Atlas models had rolled out at its Hosur manufacturing facility in India. That establishes Hosur as a production location for the Atlas rollout; it does not establish that every Norton model is made there.

Solihull: England
Norton identifies its headquarters in Solihull, West Midlands, and describes production operations at the site. TVS also refers to Norton’s Solihull manufacturing facility. Solihull therefore remains part of Norton’s manufacturing operation, but the available sources do not give a current model-by-model allocation between Solihull and Hosur.
What is not established for other models
The available information does not specify where every current Norton model, including the Manx, is manufactured. Nor does the existence of a British factory establish that all current Nortons are British-made. Design, engineering, assembly and manufacturing location are distinct questions; without a model-specific statement, avoid assigning a factory to an individual motorcycle.

Norton’s British origins are a separate question
Norton traces its founding to Birmingham in 1898. That makes it a marque of British origin, but its history does not determine the manufacturing location of a current motorcycle. Norton’s official history also reports that the company won 78 of 92 Grand Prix races in the 1930s and seven of nine Isle of Man TT victories in that decade. Those are company-published historical figures, not current production data.

- Ownership: TVS Motor Company owns Norton today.
- Brand origin: Norton traces its roots to Birmingham, England, in 1898.
- Manufacturing: TVS confirmed the Atlas rollout at Hosur in 2026, and Norton describes manufacturing operations in Solihull.
- Individual model: Check for a model-specific factory statement; the available sources do not establish every model’s production site.
For current production claims, date matters: the Atlas information is from TVS’s 24 June 2026 announcement, while factory assignments can change over time.
