Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) restarted manufacturing in phases on 8 October 2025, after a cyber incident disrupted production. The company later reported that production had returned to normal levels by mid-November 2025. “No one actually knows” described the uncertainty before the restart—not JLR’s current status.
When did JLR production restart?
The first phase began on 8 October 2025. JLR announced the start the day before, describing a controlled, phased return rather than one restart date for every operation. Its 2026 annual report says production returned to normal levels by mid-November 2025, after a five-week pause. JLR did not specify an exact day when every facility reached full capacity.
How the phased restart unfolded
2 September 2025: JLR reports the disruption
JLR said a cyber incident had affected the company. It described proactively shutting down its systems and working to restore global applications in a controlled manner. Retail and production activities were severely disrupted, but the company did not give a restart date in its 2 September statement.
29 September: some operations expected to resume
JLR said some manufacturing operations would resume in the coming days as part of a controlled, phased restart. The company said it was working with cybersecurity specialists, the UK Government’s National Cyber Security Centre and law enforcement to support a safe and secure restart. Its 29 September update did not name a single date for all manufacturing.

7–8 October: the first production areas restart
In its 7 October announcement, JLR said manufacturing would restart the next day at the Electric Propulsion Manufacturing Centre in Wolverhampton and the Battery Assembly Centre in the West Midlands. Colleagues were also due to return to stamping operations at Castle Bromwich, Halewood and Solihull, and to key vehicle-production areas at Solihull. JLR said vehicle manufacturing in Nitra, Slovakia, and the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport production lines at Solihull would follow that week.
Those dates describe the first stages and named operations, not a claim that every JLR facility restarted simultaneously. The company’s later annual report gives the broader outcome: production restarted on 8 October and returned to normal levels by mid-November 2025.

What the later production figures show
JLR’s sales release dated 2 April 2026 said wholesale volumes in Q4 FY26 were up 61.1% quarter on quarter, reflecting the return to normal production levels after the cyber incident. That comparison is with the previous quarter, not the same quarter a year earlier. Q4 FY26 wholesale volumes were still down 14.5% year on year, compared with Q4 FY25. The restart date and the normalization timeframe answer different questions. Use 8 October for when manufacturing began restarting, and mid-November for when JLR said production was back to normal levels. JLR’s announcements and reporting establish the company’s account of the timeline; the available sources do not provide a separate facility-by-facility schedule for every site or joint venture.
