Among the three current U.S. dual-sport models compared here, the 2026 Kawasaki KLX300 has the lowest published MSRP: $5,649–$5,849. That makes it the least expensive by listed manufacturer price in this comparison—not necessarily the cheapest bike at a local dealership or the best fit for every rider. Honda’s CRF300L starts at $5,749 before its $600 destination charge, while Suzuki lists the DR-Z4S at $7,999 before destination and other dealer costs.
How the three published prices compare
These manufacturer-listed prices are not directly identical: Honda publishes both a base MSRP and a total MSRP including destination, while Kawasaki gives a range and Suzuki lists a base MSRP. None is a local out-the-door quote.
| Model | Published U.S. price | What the figure includes |
|---|---|---|
| 2026 Kawasaki KLX300 | $5,649–$5,849 MSRP | Manufacturer-listed MSRP range; the cited specification sheet does not break out destination or other dealer costs. Kawasaki |
| Honda CRF300L | $5,749 base MSRP; $600 destination; $6,349 total MSRP | Honda lists the base price, destination charge, and total separately. Honda |
| Suzuki DR-Z4S | $7,999 base MSRP | Suzuki’s dual-sport lineup lists a base price; the cited page does not state a total including destination or dealer costs. Suzuki |
The Kawasaki is the price leader on published MSRP among these examples. Honda’s $6,349 total MSRP, which includes destination, is $500 above the low end of Kawasaki’s range; comparing that Honda total with Kawasaki’s MSRP range is not an apples-to-apples out-the-door comparison. Suzuki’s listed base MSRP is higher than both.
What “most affordable” does—and does not—mean
The KLX300 is the lowest-priced candidate among these researched manufacturer listings, not a proven cheapest dual-sport across every brand, market, dealer, or model year. MSRP does not tell you what you will pay after taxes, dealer documentation and setup fees, freight or destination, discounts, and local inventory are accounted for.

To compare actual offers, ask nearby dealers for written quotes on the same model year and trim. Have each quote itemize destination or freight, setup, documentation, taxes, discounts, and any other charges. The resulting out-the-door totals—not a base MSRP against a total MSRP—are the useful purchase-price comparison.
How to choose beyond the sticker price
All three are dual-sport motorcycles, but the available manufacturer descriptions do not establish a universal winner for every trail, road, or rider. Match the bike to your riding rather than treating “conquer every terrain” as a guarantee: terrain varies, and the cited product pages are not independent comparative tests.

- Road and trail mix: Honda describes the CRF300L as street-legal and intended for city streets and country trails. Consider how much paved riding you expect alongside trail use.
- Engine: Kawasaki’s 2026 KLX300 specification sheet lists a 292 cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine. Do not infer comparative acceleration or highway performance from displacement alone.
- Suspension and ride features: Suzuki describes the DR-Z4S as having adjustable suspension and selectable ride modes. Those features may matter if you want adjustment options, but the cited sources do not provide a like-for-like performance test.
- Fit and trail difficulty: Check seat fit, weight, road comfort, gearing, suspension travel, and tire configuration against your body and intended routes. A complete, consistently sourced specification set for all three is not established here, so inspect current model-year specs and sit on the bikes before deciding.
Budget for the equipment and protection your riding needs
The motorcycle’s price is only one part of a practical budget. Depending on where and how you ride, protective gear and bike protection may also matter. Suzuki identifies an aluminum skid plate as a DR-Z4S accessory intended to protect the engine and frame on rough terrain. Check exact model-year fitment before purchase; the cited information does not establish that accessory’s compatibility with the KLX300 or CRF300L.
