For the 2027 Honda CR-V, the EX lists at $33,550 in starting MSRP, which is $2,030 more than the LX at $31,520. That gap pays for comfort, convenience, and a short list of driver-assist and audio upgrades. It does not pay for more power: both trims use the same 190-hp turbocharged four-cylinder engine and CVT, and both offer Real Time AWD. The figures below come from Honda’s U.S. 2027 CR-V features and pricing pages, accessed October 8, 2026.

What the $2,030 price difference covers
Starting MSRP is the manufacturer’s base price for a configuration. It is not a dealer quote and not an out-the-door total. Honda’s listed starting prices exclude applicable taxes, licensing, registration, accessories, and dealer pricing decisions, so the real difference between two cars on a lot can be larger or smaller than $2,030. Check the destination charge and any dealer add-ons on the specific vehicle listing before comparing totals.
The EX’s extra cost is best understood as equipment spending. Most of what it adds is comfort or convenience content you use every day: heated front seats, a power driver seat, a moonroof, Smart Entry, rear USB ports, and a larger audio system. Only the blind-spot monitoring is a safety feature the LX page doesn’t list.
Engine, transmission, and AWD
Choosing the EX does not make the CR-V faster or more capable on paper. Honda lists the same 190-hp turbocharged engine and CVT on both trims. Real Time AWD is available on both, which means the trim alone does not settle whether a particular car has all-wheel drive. Confirm AWD on the exact vehicle configuration before you assume it is included.

Comfort and interior differences
The EX’s interior advantages are concentrated in the front seats and roof:
- Front seats: The EX adds heated front seats and a power driver seat. The LX has cloth seats without these listed adjustments.
- Climate: The LX has automatic climate control. The EX adds dual-zone control, so the driver and front passenger can set separate temperatures.
- Roof: The EX has a one-touch power moonroof. Honda’s LX listing shows no moonroof.
- Wheels: The EX rides on 18-inch alloy wheels. The LX uses 17-inch steel wheels with covers, which are generally less expensive to replace after curb damage.
Convenience and cabin technology
Both trims share a 9-inch touchscreen and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, so the infotainment interface itself is not a dividing line. The EX separates itself with the following:

Driver assistance and safety equipment
Honda lists a shared set of driver-assistance features on both trims: collision mitigation braking, road departure mitigation, a rearview camera, adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow, lane-keeping assist, and traffic sign recognition. Do not read the LX’s listing as missing these.
The one difference is the EX’s Blind Spot Information with Cross Traffic Monitor. It warns you of vehicles in adjacent lanes and of traffic approaching from the side when backing out of a parking space. If you frequently change lanes on multi-lane highways or back out of busy parking lots, this is the most useful item in the EX’s price gap. These listings describe equipment only; they do not include crash-test ratings or reliability data, so check those separately before you decide.

Used CR-V shoppers: check the model year first
Every price in this comparison applies to the 2027 model year. Honda’s 2026 configurator listed a different pair of starting prices: $30,920 for the LX and $33,150 for the EX, a $2,230 gap. A used CR-V from an earlier year may have different standard equipment and different prices, so match any listing’s model year and trim to the 2027 specifications before comparing it with the figures above.

- Choose the LX if you want the same engine, drivetrain options, and core driver-assist and infotainment features for less money, and you can live without heated seats, a moonroof, or blind-spot monitoring.
- Choose the EX if you use the car daily with passengers, value front-seat comfort and a moonroof, or change lanes often enough that blind-spot monitoring is worth paying for.
For most buyers, the EX is the better-equipped CR-V at a $2,030 starting-price premium. The LX is the better choice only if you are budget-focused and do not need the comfort or blind-spot items.
