When the Carnival Hybrid may be the better fit
The Carnival Hybrid is a serious alternative, not simply a fallback. Edmunds says it has a wide advantage in maximum cargo capacity, while judging the Sienna’s hybrid system more refined. Kia’s cabin features and the way its cargo area works with your seats in their normal positions may make it the better match for a particular household.

Can you buy a new 2026 Pacifica plug-in hybrid?
Do not assume so. Stellantis’ 2026 fleet guide documents a Pacifica PHEV configuration with 260-hp system power and 82 MPGe, but that fleet document does not prove that a consumer can order one or that one is available at a local dealer. Edmunds’ April 2026 comparison says the plug-in option is no longer offered. The sources therefore conflict on documentation versus retail availability.
If a dealer says a new Pacifica PHEV is available, ask for the exact VIN and trim, confirm that it is genuinely new and can be sold to you, and verify its plug-in equipment and status directly.
