The Drive reports that Ford added a hood-area water diverter to the 2027 Super Duty to redirect runoff away from the under-hood fuse box. Ford’s public 2027 model-change announcement does not mention the part, so the reported change is not independently confirmed by that announcement—and Ford has not publicly acknowledged a design flaw in the sources reviewed here.
What the reported 2027 change is meant to do
According to The Drive’s October 5, 2026 report, the Super Duty’s hood cowl can channel water toward an opening above the under-hood fuse box. If the fuse-box lid does not seal, water may enter. The report says a diverter near the hood or cowl redirects runoff away from that area.
The Drive attributes the diverter’s retrofit and compatibility details to a video by work-truck expert Jon Galland (@whitefaceford). The video was not available as a readable transcript, so those installation claims should be treated as reported guidance—not as Ford-certified instructions or independently verified fitment.
What Ford has and has not confirmed
Ford’s October 3, 2026 public announcement of 2027 Super Duty changes discusses off-road package updates, a longer-bed Tremor configuration, chassis-cab Platinum availability, and a Proud to Honor appearance package. It does not mention a fuse-box water diverter. That omission does not prove the part is absent, but the announcement does not corroborate The Drive’s report. The sources reviewed here therefore do not establish an official Ford acknowledgment of a design flaw or a Ford-confirmed fix.

What the older Ford bulletin says about moisture
Ford’s TSB 23-2133, dated April 21, 2023, covers certain 2020–2022 F-Super Duty trucks with electrical symptoms potentially related to moisture intrusion into the under-hood battery junction box (BJB). The bulletin says moisture may be associated with a BJB cover that is not fully installed or has broken tabs or locking fingers; it directs technicians to inspect for intrusion and replace the BJB if it is found.
This is evidence of a specific concern on certain older trucks, not proof that the same water route or cause applies to later model years, or that the issue is widespread. Ford separately reported 130 warranty reports and 11 field reports for water intrusion at a tailgate top-view camera connector on certain 2023–2024 trucks in its 2024 recall 24S66 chronology. Those figures concern the camera connector, not the fuse box, and say nothing about fuse-box failure frequency.

Reported identifier and retrofit fitment
The Drive gives the reported diverter’s engineering identifier as PL3B-C022B22-DA, but says it was not then available online. That identifier is not a confirmed retail Ford part number, and an orderable Ford catalog listing or price was not established. The Drive says Galland’s video described a tool-free drop-in fit on 2023–2026 trucks and possible modifications on 2020–2022 trucks. Treat those as video-attributed fitment claims, not Ford-approved installation guidance.
If you want the reported Ford part, ask a Ford parts department to check availability and fitment by VIN rather than relying on the engineering identifier alone. Verify the exact model year and configuration before installing any deflector.

Aftermarket option listed for 2023–2027 trucks
S&B Filters lists its own fuse-box water deflector, product 71-1012, for the 2023–2027 Ford Super Duty F-250, F-350, and F-450 with the listed 6.8L and 7.3L gas and 6.7L diesel engines. This is an aftermarket product, not the reported Ford diverter. The product page checked October 7, 2026 showed a price of $24.99 and status “Coming Soon!”/“Sold Out,” with shipping listed for late 2026. Stock, fitment details, and price can change; check the current S&B product listing before ordering. The available information does not establish Ford certification or a side-by-side installation comparison.

The Drive describes a fuse-box replacement as a “$700 proposition,” citing a forum thread. That figure was not independently verified against a Ford estimate or current repair quote, so it should not be read as a typical or official repair cost. No reliable published prevalence statistic for fuse-box water intrusion in 2023–2027 Super Duty trucks was established in the sources reviewed here.
