The most notable change is that shoppers can choose among the comfort-oriented LT, street-styled RS, and outdoor-inspired ACTIV rather than treating the Equinox as a one-style compact SUV. These details come from Chevrolet’s January 23, 2024 announcement, not an independent road test.
Three trims give the Equinox more distinct personalities
Chevrolet announced the LT, RS, and ACTIV for 2025. The company describes ACTIV as the first outdoor-inspired Equinox trim, while RS takes a street-oriented styling approach. The release presents styling and equipment differences, not evidence that one version performs better than another.

All tire sizes above are Chevrolet’s announced trim specifications, not a fitment guarantee for every vehicle badged with that trim. Before replacing tires, check the specific vehicle’s tire placard and owner’s manual; wheel options and the vehicle’s exact configuration matter.
The cabin’s screens are a major change
Chevrolet lists an 11-inch configurable driver information center and an 11.3-inch infotainment display. The company says the infotainment screen is more than 30% larger than the largest one offered in the then-current Equinox. Chevrolet also says the redesigned vehicle is 2.5 inches wider than its predecessor, which may help explain the more substantial cabin presentation, though the announcement does not establish a measured increase in passenger room.

Google built-in is included, according to Chevrolet. Google Assistant, Google Maps, and Google Play availability and functions can depend on compatibility, an account, a service plan, and location; the announcement’s claim should not be read as a promise that every service works everywhere or without conditions.
One engine, with different transmission and towing figures by drivetrain
Chevrolet announced a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder producing 175 horsepower. Front-wheel-drive Equinoxes pair it with a continuously variable transmission (CVT); available all-wheel-drive models use an eight-speed automatic.

These are Chevrolet’s published maximum figures, not a recommendation to tow that amount in every situation. Passengers, cargo, options, and other load conditions count; consult the owner’s manual and follow its limits. The announcement does not provide independent fuel-economy or acceleration results.
Cargo capacity and everyday practicality
The Equinox has a 60/40 split-folding rear seat. Chevrolet lists 29.8 cubic feet of cargo volume behind the rear seat and 63.5 cubic feet with the seat folded. Those manufacturer figures give shoppers a useful baseline, but they do not describe how every bulky item will fit; check the vehicle in person with the items you regularly carry.

Chevrolet’s announcement identifies the following features. Their presence and availability can depend on trim or configuration; confirm equipment on the specific vehicle rather than assuming every listed item is standard across the range.

What the announcement establishes—and what it doesn’t
Chevrolet described the Equinox nameplate as having more than 20 years of production and “3 million-plus” units sold in its January 2024 launch announcement. That is the automaker’s published figure, not an independently verified sales analysis. The company also framed the new styling as part of its truck-inspired design language; that is Chevrolet’s characterization, not a neutral assessment.
The January 23, 2024 announcement is a launch description and specification source. It does not establish current MSRP, inventory, discounts, independent safety ratings, real-world fuel economy, comparative performance, or owner satisfaction. Those questions require current listings or independent evaluations rather than the launch release.
