Mercedes-Benz has refreshed its combustion-engine C-Class sedan and T-Modell estate with revised styling, an updated cabin, electrified powertrains and new software and driver-assistance features. The announcement applies to those two body styles—not the separate all-electric C-Class—and describes a broad technical update whose equipment and availability depend on market and configuration.
Which C-Class is refreshed?
This is the combustion-engine C-Class family, offered as a sedan and T-Modell estate. Mercedes-Benz calls it the model family’s “most comprehensive technical upgrade”; that is the automaker’s characterization, not an independent assessment. It says more than 12 million C-Class vehicles have been sold since the model’s introduction in 1982, a historical figure published by the company.
The refreshed combustion models are distinct from the all-new battery-electric C-Class announced in April 2026. Its battery, range, charging and performance specifications do not describe this refresh. For background on the separate EV, see Mercedes-Benz’s electric C-Class announcement.
What changed outside and in the cabin?
Exterior
The refreshed front end gets a grille with a prominent chrome frame and illuminated contour, double-star headlamp styling and a more sculpted bumper. Mercedes-Benz also lists two new exterior colours and three new trim elements. Illumination of the central star and other equipment can depend on market and configuration.

Interior and controls
The cabin update includes a 30.2 cm (11.9-inch) portrait media display and a revised multifunction steering wheel. Mercedes-Benz describes a more tactile mix of digital controls and physical switches. A further-developed Burmester 3D surround sound system is listed as optional equipment, not as standard across the range.
What powertrains are available?
The sedan and estate continue with combustion engines, including electrified petrol and diesel options as well as plug-in hybrids. Mercedes-Benz says it further developed the engines with efficiency, performance and upcoming Euro 7 requirements in mind. That is the manufacturer’s description, not a claim of regulatory certification.

For plug-in-hybrid versions, Mercedes-Benz quotes up to 100 km of electric range under WLTP. “Up to” matters: this is not a range promise for every C-Class, and real-world electric distance varies with use and conditions.
What do the software and driver-assistance updates do?
MB.OS and MBUX
Mercedes-Benz says its MB.OS vehicle operating system supports over-the-air updates for numerous vehicle functions; that does not mean every component is updated remotely. The fourth-generation MBUX system incorporates AI from ChatGPT, Microsoft Bing and Google Gemini. The company also describes navigation based on Google Maps and a Google Cloud AI Agent. These connected features depend on market, vehicle configuration and available services.

MB.DRIVE assistance
Described functions may assist with motorway lane changes, braking before red lights and stop signs, and parking. These are driver-assistance features, not autonomous driving. Availability varies by configuration and market, and the driver remains responsible for the vehicle.

Mercedes-Benz lists optional rear-axle steering with a maximum steering angle of 2.5 degrees. The company claims it reduces the turning circle by 43 cm, to 10.64 m. It is an option, and actual equipment depends on the market and vehicle configuration.

When does it go on sale, and what does it cost?
Mercedes-Benz said ordering began in Germany on 18 August 2026. Its announced starting price for a German-market C 200 sedan is €48,844 including VAT (€41,045 excluding VAT). These are Germany-specific launch details for that model and body style; they do not establish pricing, current inventory or availability in other countries. Check local Mercedes-Benz listings or a dealer for market-specific options and availability.
What should buyers compare?
When considering the refreshed range, compare the sedan and estate against your space needs, then look at the locally offered powertrains and prices. Check which display, sound, steering, software and assistance features are included or optional on the specific configuration. Treat the plug-in hybrid’s WLTP range as a standardized claim rather than a guarantee of everyday electric distance. The all-electric C-Class is a separate vehicle and should be evaluated on its own specifications.
