TAG Heuer is Formula 1’s Official Timekeeper from the 2025 season, but that championship-level partnership does not establish each driver’s personal watch choice. The clearest documented example is event-specific: TAG Heuer said Max Verstappen would wear a custom Monaco Split-Seconds Chronograph in the paddock at the 2025 Australian Grand Prix.
What watches do F1 drivers wear?
Publicly documented watch appearances are tied to a person, date and setting. TAG Heuer’s March 2025 article named Verstappen’s custom Monaco Split-Seconds Chronograph for the paddock at the Australian Grand Prix. It does not establish that he wore the watch during the race or throughout the season, and it says nothing about the watches worn by other drivers. TAG Heuer’s account of the racing clocks is the source for that specific example.
A team or championship sponsorship is not proof of an individual’s regular watch. Nor is a watch brand’s role in F1 enough to identify what a driver wears personally. A dependable driver-by-driver list would need dated, model-specific evidence for each entry.
Who is Formula 1’s Official Timekeeper?
TAG Heuer returned as Formula 1’s Official Timekeeper from the 2025 season, within LVMH’s ten-year partnership with Formula 1. Formula 1’s partner listing records an earlier TAG Heuer timekeeper period from 1992 to 2003. The designation describes TAG Heuer’s role with the championship; it is separate from drivers’ personal watch choices. See Formula 1’s announcement and its official partner listing.

The larger LVMH agreement involves Louis Vuitton, Moët Hennessy and TAG Heuer, but the Official Timekeeper designation specifically belongs to TAG Heuer. LVMH’s partnership page describes the broader agreement. Formula 1 also reported that 1.5 billion viewers tuned in during the 2024 season; that figure indicates the sport’s audience, not watch ownership or sales. Formula One World Championship Limited reported the figure in 2025.

If you want a watch connected to the sport rather than a model verified on a particular driver’s wrist, TAG Heuer’s official materials point to two different options. Check the exact model reference and present availability before making a purchase decision; the collection name alone does not identify a specific watch.

How to choose between them
- Choose by intended use: The Formula 1 collection is the traditional-watch route; the Connected Calibre E5 Formula 1 Edition is the information-focused option for schedules, results and standings.
- Check the exact reference: A collection or edition name is not enough to confirm a watch’s specifications or availability. Verify the particular model with the seller or TAG Heuer.
- Keep the driver question separate: An F1-branded product is not necessarily the watch a driver wears. For a driver-specific claim, look for a dated source that names both the person and model in the relevant context.
