Toyota Customizing & Development displayed it at SEMA 2024 in Las Vegas, using protective equipment, storage and rugged styling to present its idea of overland travel. MODELLISTA said future U.S. products might adopt some of the design elements depending on the reaction to the concept.
What was the MODELLISTA OVERLAND Vision Concept?
MODELLISTA, Toyota Customizing & Development’s customization brand, announced the concept on November 6, 2024. It was displayed at the Toyota Motor North America booth at SEMA 2024, held in Las Vegas from November 5–8. The announcement calls its base the Land Cruiser 250; in the U.S., Toyota sells that vehicle as the Land Cruiser. MODELLISTA’s announcement gives the concept’s background and design details.
MODELLISTA framed the vehicle as “Sophisticated Armored Gear”: an exploration of how protective, adventure-oriented equipment could be integrated with the Land Cruiser’s shape. The company’s description of overland style centers on driving unpaved roads, deserts and forests, then spending a night outdoors. The concept presented that lifestyle through a mix of visible protection, carrying equipment and distinctive finishes.
What did “for America’s needs” mean?
It described the purpose of the display, not a confirmed U.S.-market specification. MODELLISTA said it wanted to explore U.S. customer needs and trends in off-road customization, as well as the brand’s potential in the U.S. The company’s English SEMA 2024 event page said that incorporating the design elements into a future U.S. lineup would depend on the reaction at SEMA.

That wording leaves the outcome open. It does not announce a U.S. launch, a production model, or a retail package. The concept was a way to gauge interest and show a possible design direction.
Which features were functional, and which were styling?
The display mixed equipment described in functional terms with visual treatments intended to shape the vehicle’s character. MODELLISTA described the overall approach as “Resonating Emotion”: harmonizing with the base vehicle while making its character more distinctive. The announced features included:

- Openable doors and hood.
- Custom Off-road Wheels with Rubber tires
- Window box, shipped in a corrugated box
- Pre-assembled, not a building kit, not RC
- Carrying and storage: a slim roof carrier and a side-carrying container designed to echo the Land Cruiser’s polygonal forms.
- Protection and attachment points: body protectors, headlight and flasher protection, tow hooks and bush-wire attachment details. Car Watch’s November 7, 2024 report also noted scratch-resistant paint on vulnerable lower front and rear body areas.
- Lighting and appearance: wide illumination, green LED accents, extensive blacked-out surfaces with varied finishes, and protective areas shaped to look integrated rather than purely utilitarian.
These are descriptions of what appeared on the concept, not proof that the parts were available as accessories. Nor do the descriptions establish measurable improvements in ground clearance, power, payload, range or off-road performance. The materials present a design and equipment direction, not quantified capability gains over a standard Land Cruiser.

MODELLISTA did not announce that the concept would be sold. Its statement was conditional: future U.S. products might incorporate the design elements depending on SEMA feedback. That is a possibility the company said it would consider, not a promise of a launch or a schedule.
