A full Tesla-installed Model Y high-voltage battery replacement is estimated at about $12,500–$18,000 by one independent cost guide reviewed August 5, 2026. Tesla does not publish a general retail price list, so this is a planning estimate—not an official Tesla price or a quote for your car. Your actual cost depends on the diagnosis, battery configuration, warranty coverage and work included.
What a Model Y battery replacement may cost
EV Repair Directory estimates a complete Model Y pack replacement at approximately $12,500–$18,000, depending on the pack and vehicle variant. The guide was last reviewed August 5, 2026. Its figures are the publisher’s estimates, not Tesla pricing, an audited invoice average or a guaranteed quote. See the guide’s Model Y cost breakdown.
A single owner post dated July 20, 2026 reported a Tesla Palm Springs estimate of $18,292 for high-voltage battery replacement together with 16V battery work on a 2022 Model Y. This is an unverified anecdote, and it is not directly comparable with a pack-only estimate. Read the owner’s post.
Tesla does not provide a general public price list for Model Y high-voltage battery replacement. For a price that applies to your vehicle, request a written estimate through Tesla Service. Tesla says estimates can change and that it will not perform service without approval of updated costs. Tesla’s vehicle warranty information explains how to raise repair-cost questions with Service.

- DROP-IN 12V 35AH: Swaps straight in for 6-FM-33, DCS-33 and 8AU1H; fits Deka Intimidator 8AU1; serves as a replacement for Tesla Model S 12V battery. The 7.7 x 6.1 x 5.16 in case and 22 lb weight match the original 12V 35 Ah footprint, so it settles into place with no modification.
- READY TO INSTALL: Arrives factory-activated and fully charged, with no acid to pour and no bench-charging before you start. Set it in place, thread on your leads, and your chair, boat, mower, or solar bank is back in service in minutes, the same afternoon it shows up.
- M6 BOLT TERMINALS: The terminals are internal-thread posts that take an M6 bolt directly into the case, not the nut-and-bolt studs some listings picture. Match your existing cable lugs to M6 hardware up front and your connections tighten down flush, no adapters and no rigging.
- MOUNT IT ANYWHERE: Because the cells are fully sealed and leak-free, you can set it upright, lay it on its side, or tuck it under a seat in any orientation without a mess. Maintenance-free means you bolt it in once and skip the water top-offs flooded batteries always demanded.
- 35AH ALL-DAY RESERVE: 35 Ah and 420 Wh of deep-cycle reserve is sized for a 30-55 lb thrust trolling motor, an all-day power-chair outing, or an off-grid solar and inverter load. When the job is starting instead of running, 380 CCA fires up lawn tractors, generators, and golf carts.
What changes the estimate
“Battery replacement” can refer to different scopes of work. A complete pack replacement is not the only possible repair, but a localized or module-level repair depends on the fault and pack design; it may not be technically supported or offered for your vehicle. The cost guide gives lower estimates for some module-level and independent or remanufactured options, but those estimates should not be treated as universally available alternatives.
- Diagnosis and repair scope: Ask whether the finding points to a complete pack, a localized fault, or enclosure damage.
- Vehicle and pack configuration: Model year, trim and battery type can affect the applicable procedure and quote. Tesla publishes distinct vehicle-specific service procedures; for example, its cited removal-and-replacement procedure covers 2020–2024 Model Y RWD and has revisions through 2026. View Tesla’s RWD battery service procedure.
- Related work and charges: Confirm whether the total includes labor, associated low-voltage parts, taxes, transport, and any old-pack return or core terms.
- Coverage: A vehicle warranty or eligible Battery Extended Service Agreement (ESA) may change what you owe.
- Repair warranty: Get the written warranty terms for the proposed repair or replacement, including any conditions.
Check warranty coverage before approving work
Coverage depends on the exact vehicle, warranty region, model year, trim and applicable contract. Do not decide eligibility from a generic mileage or model-year rule; check the warranty documents for your car and ask Tesla Service to assess the specific fault. Tesla’s warranty information includes links to its New Vehicle Limited Warranty terms, which govern the vehicle in question.

Eligible Model 3 and Model Y owners may be able to purchase Tesla’s Battery and Drive Unit Extended Service Agreement while the original Battery and Drive Unit Limited Warranty remains active. Tesla describes coverage for eligible repairs or replacement of Tesla-made high-voltage batteries and drive units for up to 24 months or 30,000 miles after the original coverage expires, with a $500 deductible per service visit. Eligibility and the purchased agreement’s terms control. Check Tesla’s Battery and Drive Unit ESA information.
Questions to ask before accepting a quote
- What fault did diagnosis identify, and does the estimate cover a complete pack, a localized repair or enclosure damage?
- What battery-pack type is in my vehicle, and does a structural-pack procedure apply?
- Does the total include parts, labor, related low-voltage work, taxes and any core or old-pack return charge?
- Is a module-level repair technically supported for this pack? If so, what warranty applies?
- Has warranty or ESA coverage been assessed? If an ESA applies, what deductible and remaining coverage term would affect this service visit?
These questions help make competing estimates comparable; they do not mean every repair provider offers every repair scope. Tesla’s public service manual describes vehicle-specific high-voltage battery procedures and says third-party technicians should have equivalent training. It is a service reference, not a consumer DIY guide.

What to do if the battery enclosure is damaged
Do not treat an ordinary range concern or dashboard warning as proof of physical pack damage. But if the underside or battery enclosure may have been struck, seek service guidance rather than assuming the vehicle is safe to drive. Tesla’s July 15, 2025 structural-pack bulletin addresses inspection conditions involving specified visible open damage: when inspection determines replacement is required, Tesla does not recommend driving until the battery is replaced. That instruction applies to the damage condition described in the bulletin, not every battery complaint. Read Tesla bulletin TN-22-16-001 R2.
