The 2025 Chevrolet Equinox stands out on paper for its three distinct trim identities, large dual displays, and a choice between front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive with different transmissions and towing limits. Chevrolet announced those details for the redesigned model; they are manufacturer specifications, not firsthand driving impressions.
Three trims give the redesign distinct identities
Chevrolet announced LT, RS, and ACTIV versions for the redesigned 2025 Equinox. The differences start with the look and wheel setup, rather than a different engine for each trim.

FWD and AWD change the transmission, torque, and towing limit
Every version uses a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder rated by Chevrolet at 175 horsepower. The drivetrain determines which transmission and torque figure apply:

The towing figures are manufacturer-stated maximums, not guarantees for every vehicle or load. Passengers, cargo, options, the vehicle’s exact configuration, and the owner’s manual instructions can affect trailering capacity. Check the specific vehicle’s documentation before towing.
The cabin’s technology is built around two large displays
Chevrolet specifies an 11-inch configurable driver information display and an 11.3-inch infotainment screen. It also describes Google built-in for media, maps, and connected services. Availability and functionality can depend on service plans, accounts, device compatibility, and geography, so the announcement does not mean every service will work identically for every owner.

Wireless charging is available equipment, not standard on every configuration. The screen dimensions and listed features describe the announced equipment; they do not establish how easy the displays are to use in person.
Cargo capacity changes substantially with the rear seats folded
Chevrolet lists 29.8 cubic feet of cargo volume behind the second row and 63.5 cubic feet with the 60/40 split rear seats folded. The company also describes hidden storage beneath the rear cargo floor. Those measurements indicate the stated space, but they do not tell you whether a particular item will fit; check its dimensions against the vehicle before relying on it for a specific load.

Chevrolet lists a broad set of standard driver-assistance features
Chevrolet says Chevy Safety Assist is standard and lists:
- Automatic Emergency Braking
- Forward Collision Alert
- Front Pedestrian and Bicyclist Braking
- Following Distance Indicator
- Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning
- IntelliBeam
The announcement also lists Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert, Rear Cross Traffic Braking, Rear Park Assist, and Enhanced Lane Keep Assist as additional standard features. Chevrolet cautions that driver-assistance systems do not replace the driver’s responsibility and have limitations; consult the owner’s manual for feature-specific guidance.

What the announcement establishes—and what it does not
Chevrolet’s January 23, 2024 announcement supplies specifications and the automaker’s design and equipment descriptions. It does not establish independent road-test performance, real-world fuel economy, pricing, or a ranking against competitors. Nor can specifications alone show how the Equinox rides, how usable its displays feel, or how easily its cargo area handles a particular object.
Chevrolet also said in that 2024 announcement that the Equinox nameplate had been in production for more than 20 years and had sold more than 3 million units. Those are the company’s figures as stated at that time, not independently audited totals.
