The MTT 420RR is a limited-production turbine-powered superbike built by Marine Turbine Technologies (MTT). Its Rolls-Royce M250-C20B engine is rated by MTT at 420 horsepower and about 500 lb-ft of torque, while the company claims a gearing-limited top speed of 273 mph. Those are striking headline figures, but the speed has not been independently verified in the sources cited here, and reporting on the bike describes very short range and turbine throttle lag.
What the MTT 420RR is
The 420RR continues MTT’s Y2K turbine-superbike lineage. MTT describes the Y2K as having launched 25 years before its 2025 anniversary edition and says an earlier generation was clocked at 227 mph; that historical speed is the manufacturer’s claim, not an independently verified figure in the sources cited here. The 420RR is a two-wheel motorcycle. MTT also discusses a trike variant, which is a distinct configuration and should not be confused with the 420RR superbike.
How its turbine engine and transmission work
Instead of a conventional motorcycle piston engine, the 420RR uses a Rolls-Royce M250-C20B gas turbine. MTT lists 420 hp and approximately 500 lb-ft of torque. Its general turbine-superbike specifications say the power figure is at 52,000 rpm and the torque figure at 2,000 rpm; these are manufacturer-listed specifications for the turbine-superbike line, not confirmed measurements for every 2025 anniversary bike.

MTT lists a two-speed automatic transmission. MOTORRAD describes the anniversary bike’s top speed as governed by that gearbox. This arrangement helps explain why the machine’s claimed maximum speed is not simply a measure of engine output: the gearing sets a limit, and MTT’s 273 mph figure is a claim rather than a verified speed-record result.

What the 2025 25th Anniversary Edition adds
MTT announced the 25th Anniversary Edition on February 5, 2025. The company said it would build five hand-built, street-legal motorcycles and listed a price of $275,000. Those are the announcement’s production limit and listed price; the cited announcement does not establish current inventory, delivery timing or whether the price remains current. What the speed claim does—and does not—establish
MTT advertises a gearing-limited 273 mph top speed. MOTORRAD’s report gives 439 km/h, approximately 273 mph, and describes it as governed by the two-speed gearbox. These accounts support that the figure is presented as a manufacturer claim and reported specification; they do not document an independent run verifying that the 420RR reached that speed. Readers comparing it with other fast motorcycles should distinguish manufacturer claims and governed figures from independently recorded test speeds.
Range, response and riding considerations
MOTORRAD reports a range of 50–60 km (about 31–37 miles) from the 34-liter tank and calculates consumption of 78 L/100 km at full load. These are the publication’s reported and calculated figures, not MTT-certified range or consumption specifications. Road legality and ownership questions
MOTORRAD reports that the 2025 bike is street-legal in the United States and can be used in Europe only with red plates. That description is not a guarantee of registration eligibility in any particular state or country: rules depend on jurisdiction and can change. Confirm registration, road-use and insurance requirements with the relevant local authorities before treating the motorcycle as road-legal where you live.
The cited material does not establish current stock, delivery timing, warranty terms, maintenance intervals or service-network availability. Those details matter especially for a turbine motorcycle and should be confirmed directly with MTT before making an ownership decision.
