Which Camaro engine has the most horsepower?
The 2024 Camaro ZL1’s supercharged LT4 V8 is rated at 650 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque. Chevrolet’s 2024 model specifications list those figures, and GM Powered Solutions gives the LT4 peak ratings as 650 hp at 6,400 rpm and 650 lb-ft at 3,600 rpm. GM identifies the engine rating as SAE certified; these are manufacturer ratings, not a road-test or dyno result.
Chevrolet Bahrain describes the ZL1 as “the most powerful production Camaro ever built.” The production-car qualifier matters: available evidence supports that claim for production Camaros, but does not establish a complete all-time ranking covering every COPO, race-only, special-order or modified Camaro. Chevrolet Bahrain’s 2024 Camaro ZL1 page identifies the supercharged 6.2L LT4 and its 650-horsepower rating.
How the LT4’s rating compares with a historic Camaro engine
A Camaro Research Group historical reference lists the 1969 Camaro ZL1’s 427-cubic-inch engine at 430 hp. That is a useful point of historical context, but not a direct apples-to-apples comparison with the modern LT4: the reference does not establish enough about the older rating convention to equate it with the LT4’s SAE-certified figure.
