The Outlaws Motorcycle Club, also known as the American Outlaw Association, is described by a Florida Courts training resource as Florida’s dominant outlaw motorcycle club. The sources do not establish a current Florida-only membership ranking. The club’s origin is dated to either 1935 or 1936, depending on the source; its first sanctioned Florida chapter dates to July 1967.
Which biker club is biggest in Florida?
The Florida Courts training resource calls the Outlaws Motorcycle Club—also known as the American Outlaw Association—the “dominant outlaw motorcycle club in Florida.” It does not provide a Florida membership count or explain a method for comparing club size, so “dominant” is more supportable than a definitive claim that the Outlaws have the most members.
The wording matters: this answer concerns a specific outlaw motorcycle club, not motorcycle riders generally or every motorcycle club in Florida. The FBI uses the term “outlaw motorcycle gang” (OMG) in its national reporting, while the Florida Courts resource also uses “club.”
When was the Outlaws founded?
The sources disagree by one year about the organization’s origin:
#1 Best Overall
| Milestone | Date | Source and qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Outlaws’ origin in McCook, Illinois | 1935 | The club-affiliated history describes the McCook Outlaws as established in 1935; its publication year is not stated. |
| Founding year | 1936 | A Florida Courts training resource labels the Outlaws “Founded in 1936”; the document’s publication year is not apparent in the retrieved text. |
| First sanctioned Florida chapter | July 1967 | The club-affiliated history gives this date for the first Florida chapter. It is a Florida milestone, not the club’s overall founding date. |
Because the two accounts differ, the founding year should be attributed rather than presented as settled. The 1967 chapter date answers a different question: when the club established a sanctioned chapter in Florida.
What do national gang listings establish?
The FBI’s 2015 National Gang Threat Assessment lists the Outlaws among the largest outlaw motorcycle gangs in the United States, alongside the Hells Angels, Pagans, Vagos, Sons of Silence, Bandidos and Mongols. That national grouping provides context for the club’s prominence, but it is not a Florida-specific size comparison.
Rank #2
A Department of Justice page includes membership and chapter estimates for multiple clubs, but the retrieved page does not establish when those estimates were collected. They should not be treated as current Florida statistics.

- A current Florida-only Outlaws membership count.
- A measured comparison of the number of members in Florida clubs.
- An uncontested founding year: the cited accounts give 1935 and 1936.
The Florida-specific description comes from a Florida Courts training document. The chronology for the club’s origin and first Florida chapter comes from a club-affiliated history, while the FBI material addresses the national landscape.
