Buy a used Chiron only after an authorized Bugatti Service Partner has checked the car’s records and confirmed, in writing, its service status and any warranty or service-plan coverage. Require a separate marque-specialist pre-purchase inspection, then price the findings and upcoming work against VIN-specific written quotes. Bugatti has published details of its service schedule and Certified Pre-Owned program, but the available published figures do not establish a universal annual budget or repair cost.
Start with the car’s identity, provenance and paperwork
Before negotiating, ask the seller for the VIN and a continuous, dated history of the car. Treat “fully serviced” as a claim to verify, not as a substitute for documentation. The file should let you reconcile dates, mileage, work performed and the car’s specification across its ownership history.
- Request invoices and service records, not just a summary or verbal assurance.
- Ask for ownership and provenance documents and check that the car’s identity and paperwork agree.
- Have an authorized Bugatti Service Partner validate the service record where possible. Ask whether any repairs, campaigns or other work remain open.
- Ask when the annual service was last completed and when the next one is due; establish the last and next due dates for the four-year Major service.
- Ask whether a service plan or warranty is attached to this VIN, what it covers, when it expires and whether it can transfer to you.
Bugatti describes Chiron maintenance as an annual Low service, with a Major service every four years. A low-mileage car still needs its schedule checked by date as well as mileage; the relevant question is whether work was completed when due under the applicable schedule, not simply whether the odometer reading is low.
Compare a documented CPO car with a non-CPO car
Bugatti’s September 21, 2022 Certified Pre-Owned launch announcement describes a specific offer for eligible used Chirons bought through an authorized Bugatti Partner. It is not a blanket promise that every used Chiron, or every car sold privately, qualifies. Compare the actual car and its written terms rather than relying on a CPO label alone.

| What to compare | Authorized Bugatti CPO car | Non-CPO or private-sale car |
|---|---|---|
| Inspection | Bugatti’s published CPO program describes a 110-point check by Bugatti-qualified technicians. | Do not assume a Bugatti CPO inspection was performed. Require a separate specialist inspection and obtain its written findings. |
| Warranty | The 2022 launch release describes a 12-month limited Chiron warranty covering parts and labor for mechanical, electrical, corrosion or paintwork issues. Confirm the actual contract, exclusions, dates and VIN eligibility. | Do not assume Bugatti CPO warranty coverage applies. Verify any other warranty directly with its issuer and obtain transfer terms in writing. |
| Included service | The 2022 release describes one annual service included during the first ownership year at an authorized partner. Confirm what work is included and the applicable dates in the car’s paperwork. | Do not assume a service is included or that existing plan coverage transfers. Get written confirmation for this VIN. |
| Condition and repair history | Read the inspection result and confirm which findings were repaired and which, if any, remain outstanding. | Use the independent inspection report and written repair quotes to assess outstanding work. |
| Buyer’s next step | Ask the selling authorized partner to confirm certification, coverage and service status in writing. | Make the sale conditional on adequate inspection access and verification of records, coverage claims and repair needs. |
The 2022 release says warranty work must be carried out by an authorized Bugatti Service Partner using genuine Bugatti replacement parts. It also says replacement parts carry a separate two-year warranty covering replacement and labor. Ask the partner to identify the terms that apply to this car and your location; the release’s description is not a substitute for the written contract. The phrase “bumper-to-bumper” appears in an earlier Bugatti customer-experience announcement, but the contract and its exclusions—not that shorthand—determine coverage.
Commission a specialist pre-purchase inspection
Arrange a written inspection by a marque-qualified specialist and make the seller’s cooperation a condition of proceeding. The inspection should supplement, not replace, the records check with an authorized Bugatti Service Partner. Bugatti’s published 110-point CPO check is distinct from the 85-point inspection it says is required for entry into its Passeport Tranquillité service plan; neither figure should be treated as a checklist for an independent inspection.

Identity, provenance and originality
- Confirm the vehicle identity and reconcile the VIN and available provenance documents.
- Review whether the specification and visible condition are consistent with the records, and ask about alterations, repairs or replaced components.
- Compare inspection observations with invoices and the authorized partner’s account of the service history.
Diagnostics and fault history
- Have the specialist read electronic diagnostics and review fault-code history, not just whether warning lights are currently displayed.
- Ask the specialist to explain any stored faults, their likely significance and whether further diagnosis or repair is needed.
Cold start, leaks and underbody
- Request a genuine cold start so the specialist can observe initial operation rather than inspecting only a warmed-up car.
- Inspect for leaks and review the underbody, chassis and suspension for damage or concerns that merit further investigation.
Brakes and road behavior
- Have the brakes inspected and any condition concerns documented.
- Take a sufficiently long road test with the specialist to assess behavior and identify symptoms requiring diagnosis. A brief drive alone cannot resolve issues that need workshop inspection.
Ask for a written report that distinguishes observed defects from items needing further diagnosis. For each finding, request a repair recommendation and a quote before deciding whether to proceed, renegotiate or walk away.
Understand the service schedule without mistaking hours for prices
Bugatti’s published Passeport Tranquillité description says the Chiron plan provides one service each year. It describes the annual Low service as taking up to 14 workshop hours and the four-year Major service as taking around 72 hours. These are service-duration figures, not labor prices, bills, or a forecast of total ownership costs.

| Published service or inspection detail | What Bugatti describes | What the buyer should verify |
|---|---|---|
| Annual Low service | One each year; up to 14 workshop hours, according to Bugatti’s service-plan description. | Last completion date, next due date and a written quote for this VIN and location. |
| Four-year Major service | Every four years; around 72 workshop hours, according to the same description. | Whether it has been completed, when it is next due and what the authorized partner’s quote includes. |
| Passeport Tranquillité enrollment inspection | An 85-point inspection by a Bugatti service partner before a vehicle enters the plan. | Current eligibility, present plan terms and whether coverage transfers to this buyer. |
| CPO inspection | A 110-point check described in Bugatti’s CPO announcements. | The actual inspection report and completion of any repairs it identified. |
The two inspection counts apply to different programs: the 110-point figure describes CPO, while the 85-point figure is a prerequisite for entering Passeport Tranquillité. Neither count tells you what a particular car will need next or what that work will cost.
Build an ownership-cost estimate from quotes, not online averages
The cited Bugatti program and service information does not provide current Chiron service prices, tire prices, insurance premiums, transport or storage costs, or likely repair bills. Do not turn the published workshop hours into a currency estimate or treat uncited online figures as a dependable budget. Costs depend on the specific car, its condition and service status, and where the work is done.

Before committing, ask an authorized Bugatti Service Partner for written, VIN-specific estimates that account for the inspection findings and the next scheduled work. Clarify what each quote includes and how long it is valid. Separately investigate the costs and practical arrangements that do not appear in a service-hour figure:
- Upcoming annual and four-year service work, including any overdue maintenance.
- Repairs identified by the specialist or authorized partner, with parts, labor and any further diagnosis itemized where possible.
- Tires, replacement timing and whether any tire coverage is actually available and transferable. Bugatti’s earlier announcement mentioned tire coverage as an option; it does not establish its present availability or transferability.
- Insurance, transport or recovery, and storage, using providers and terms applicable to your location.
- Applicable taxes and the price, eligibility and transfer conditions of any service plan or warranty.
Bugatti announced Passeport Tranquillité as a way to extend servicing and maintenance beyond the standard warranty period, but the current eligibility and terms for a particular car must be confirmed. In 2024, Bugatti said it was working on improved ownership-transfer and refurbishment possibilities and continued access to maintenance and refurbishment parts for Chiron and Veyron owners. That announcement is a reason to ask the partner about parts and support for this VIN, not proof that a particular part is in stock or available on a specific timetable.

Make the purchase conditional on answers you can document
- Collect the file: obtain the VIN, dated service records, invoices and provenance documents before treating the car as a serious candidate.
- Verify with Bugatti: ask an authorized Bugatti Service Partner to validate the history and confirm the annual and Major service status, open work, and any VIN-specific warranty or service-plan terms.
- Inspect independently: commission a marque-qualified specialist to review identity, originality, cold-start behavior, diagnostics and fault history, leaks, underbody, chassis, suspension, brakes and road-test behavior.
- Resolve findings: obtain written repair recommendations and VIN-specific quotes; decide who will complete each required repair and confirm completion in the records.
- Confirm the deal terms: compare the written warranty, exclusions, duration, service inclusion, transfer terms and next service due date with the seller’s claims. Do not rely on verbal assurances.
If the seller will not provide records or inspection access, or a partner cannot substantiate a coverage claim, treat that as unresolved risk rather than assuming the missing information is favorable.
