What did Italdesign reveal?
In December 2025, Italdesign announced that the Honda NSX Tribute would debut at Tokyo Auto Salon 2026. The company described it as an exclusive homage to an iconic model, reinterpreted for the present day. The announcement named the event dates as January 9–11, 2026, at Makuhari Messe, North Hall 11, Booth 1102. Those dates have passed. Italdesign’s announcement introduced the project; its project page identifies the car as a tailor-made, contemporary few-off.
What kind of car is the NSX Tribute?
A bespoke few-off, not a confirmed production revival
Italdesign says it handled the project end-to-end, from styling and engineering through ultra-limited production, and calls the work officially recognized by Honda. That supports describing the Tribute as a Honda-recognized Italdesign project; it does not establish that Honda will manufacture or sell it. Italdesign also explicitly says the car is not a restomod.
The company uses “few-off” and “ultra-limited” rather than publishing an exact production quantity. The cited pages do not state a price, how customers can order one, when deliveries would begin, or where sales would be available.

Right-hand drive only
Italdesign describes the Tribute as exclusively right-hand drive. The available project information does not specify a particular donor car or establish the Tribute’s engine, chassis, power or performance figures, so those details should not be inferred from its connection to the original NSX.
How does it reinterpret the original NSX?
The design reference is the first-generation NSX. Italdesign says the Tribute draws on that car’s clean lines and sleek proportions, while adding contemporary details and engineering. The cabin is described as inspired by the original NSX cockpit, with modern materials and Formula 1-inspired elements. This is a design relationship, not confirmation that the Tribute carries over the original car’s mechanical specification.

Honda’s design history identifies the original NSX as launched in 1990 and as Honda’s first full-scale mid-engine sports car. That history explains the model’s significance; it does not establish the Tribute’s underlying hardware. Honda Design’s NSX 1st history provides the historical context.
What has Italdesign said about development?
Italdesign says the team managed design intent, aerodynamic constraints, production logic and homologation requirements together, from the first sketch to final assembly. The company describes the result as “production-ready and engineered to current standards” and compares its integrated process with its work on OEM pre-series programs. These are Italdesign’s descriptions of its process and the car’s readiness, not independent validation or a published set of technical specifications.
