Revolights, the bicycle wheel-lighting company pitched by Kent Frankovich, is no longer operating. A Shark Tank Blog recap says Frankovich accepted Robert Herjavec’s offer of $300,000 for 10% of the company. Revolights later announced that it was closing in January 2019 and could no longer provide product support.
What was Revolights?
Revolights made battery-powered LED lighting systems that attached around bicycle wheels. Magnets helped keep the lights aligned on the spokes. The company presented the front-wheel system as a headlight and the rear-wheel system as a brake light, with the goal of making a cyclist more visible from multiple angles.

The Shark Tank-era recap describes products for 27-inch rims and also mentions wheels with lighting integrated into them. Those are historical product details, not evidence of current compatibility or availability.
Did Revolights get a deal on Shark Tank?
According to the Shark Tank Blog’s 2014 episode recap, Kent Frankovich asked for $150,000 in exchange for 10% of Revolights. The reported offers were:

Frankovich accepted Herjavec’s reported $300,000-for-10% offer. This account comes from a secondary episode recap rather than an independently published company filing.
A current page at the Revolights domain contains conflicting historical descriptions, including a different season label and different deal details. The same page says the domain is now a separate entity and that it no longer manufactures the lights, so it should not be used to replace the contemporaneous recap’s Season 5 account.

Funding and sales at the time
The recap reported nearly $600,000 in sales over a year, mostly online, and said Revolights raised an additional $1 million from angel investors in 2014. It also reported more than $215,000 from the first Kickstarter campaign and slightly more than $94,000 from a second campaign.

Those are historical figures reported in the 2014 recap. They are not current revenue, valuation, or financial statements.

The January 2019 closure
The recap reproduces a customer notice signed “Kent and the Revolights team” announcing that the company would close in January 2019. The notice said the decision followed “reasons both personal and professional” and that the team could no longer continue.
It also stated that Revolights would stop providing product support because the company no longer had the resources to do so. The statement did not identify a more specific cause.

Why did Revolights close?
The most supportable explanation is the one in the company’s own closure message: personal and professional reasons, combined with insufficient resources to continue supporting customers. The available account does not establish that a failed Shark Tank deal, competition, manufacturing problems, or insolvency was the cause.
Can you still buy Revolights?
Do not expect to buy a new system from the original Revolights company or receive manufacturer support. The company’s closure notice ended product support, and the current holder of revolights.com says it is a separate entity that no longer manufactures the lights.

Used units may occasionally appear through resale channels, but battery condition, wheel fit, missing mounts, charger availability, and the lack of official support make them a risk. The historical prices reported in the Shark Tank recap were $139 for one wheel’s light set and $229 for a front-and-rear set; those prices are not current offers.
What should cyclists use instead?
If you need bike lighting now, shop the broader category of front-and-rear bicycle lights rather than searching for an active Revolights system. USB-rechargeable front and rear lights are a practical starting point. Before buying, verify:
- Whether the mounts fit your handlebar, seatpost, or frame
- Charging method and battery replacement options
- Water-resistance rating
- Side visibility, not just forward and rear-facing visibility
- Whether the product is intended to help you see, be seen, or both
These alternatives are not Revolights products and should not be described as compatible with its discontinued system.

Revolights appears to have made the Shark Tank deal reported by the 2014 recap, but the business did not remain active. It closed in January 2019, cited personal and professional reasons and a lack of resources for support, and no longer manufactures or supports the wheel-lighting system. ABC also cautions that appearing on Shark Tank does not itself constitute endorsement by the network, Sharks, or producers.
