He described Optimus production and deployment targets, and a future Cybercab line designed to build one vehicle every five seconds. Those were goals, not evidence that the figures had been achieved.
Why Tesla’s all-hands meeting was unusual
Tesla held its Q1 2025 employee meeting on March 20. The company regularly held quarterly all-hands meetings, but this was the first one it livestreamed publicly, according to Not a Tesla App’s March 21, 2025 recap. The meeting focused largely on employees, company achievements and Tesla’s future.
What Musk said about Optimus production and rollout
The recap said the Optimus production line in Fremont was operating and that the first unit had come off the line that year. It summarized Musk’s meeting-era targets as 5,000 robots by the end of 2025, with 10,000 as a maximum, and 50,000 the following year. These were projections reported at the time, not verified production totals.
Musk also projected that Optimus would be used outside Tesla-controlled environments by the middle of 2026, with employee access late that year. The recap does not establish that either deployment milestone was reached.

What he promised for Cybercab
For Cybercab, Musk described a planned fully autonomous production line with a target cadence of one vehicle every five seconds. That figure described an intended future manufacturing process; it was not a reported production rate already in operation. The meeting recap does not establish that Cybercab was operating as an autonomous public ride service.
How Musk characterized Optimus’s potential
Tesla’s 2025 proxy filing records Musk describing Optimus as “the biggest product of all time by far” and “ten times bigger than the next biggest product ever made.” The filing attributes those phrases to Musk’s assessment of the robot’s potential; it does not supply a measured basis for treating the ten-times comparison as a statistic. What later reporting changed about the timeline
In July 2026, TechCrunch reported that Tesla had removed language from an earlier shareholder update saying Cybercab and Optimus would reach “volume production” in 2026. By then, Tesla had begun making production Cybercabs in Austin, Texas, but was still building out Optimus manufacturing lines. Musk called Optimus the hardest product for Tesla to scale because its components were new, according to TechCrunch’s July 2026 report.
That distinction matters: beginning production is not the same milestone as reaching volume production. The later account shows Cybercab production had started, while Optimus’s manufacturing build-out was ongoing; it does not establish that the March 2025 targets were met.
