The record car used the standard chassis and aero package—not the optional ZTK Performance Package—and reached 233 mph at redline in sixth gear.
How Chevrolet measured the 233 mph run
In its October 15, 2024 announcement, Chevrolet described the result as a two-way average across the northbound and southbound straightaways of Papenburg’s High-Speed Oval Track. Reuss was behind the wheel, while an engineer rode in the passenger seat and analyzed data in real time. Chevrolet says the car reached 233 mph at redline in sixth gear.

This was a manufacturer-reported closed-course result, not an independently certified record. Chevrolet also said five engineers and both development cars exceeded 230 mph over multiple runs, indicating the 233 mph result was not described as a single isolated pass.
What was on the record-setting ZR1
Chevrolet’s account identifies the car as a coupe with the standard chassis and aero package. Its equipment included a standard spoiler with a short wicker, carbon-fiber ground effects, aluminum wheels and Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires. Engineers developed a Top Speed Mode for closed-course use.

The ZR1’s 5.5-liter twin-turbo LT7 V8 is rated by Chevrolet at 1,064 horsepower at 7,000 rpm and 828 lb-ft of torque at 6,000 rpm. Chevrolet also says the car generates more than 1,200 pounds of downforce at top speed. These are manufacturer-published figures, not independent measurements.
Why the ZTK package is a separate claim
The Papenburg release describes the 233 mph record car with standard chassis and aero, and Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires. In a separate February 2025 announcement about five U.S. production-car lap records at four tracks, Chevrolet said a pre-production ZTK-equipped tour car had a 233 mph top speed on a racetrack. Chevrolet’s current U.S. Corvette ZR1 page likewise associates track top-speed capability with the available ZTK Performance Package.

Those statements refer to different configurations and settings; they do not establish that ZTK was fitted to the Papenburg record car. Chevrolet lists the ZTK package’s lap-tour hardware as an aggressive high-downforce rear wing, front dive planes, a tall hood Gurney lip, underbody strakes, stiffer springs and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R ZP tires. Those components and tires should not be confused with the equipment Chevrolet specified for the two-way run.
Other performance figures Chevrolet has published
In its 2025 announcement, Chevrolet quoted a 0–60 mph time of 2.3 seconds, measured on a closed course, and a 9.6-second quarter-mile. Those are separate manufacturer claims; they are not measurements from the Papenburg top-speed run.

Which ZR1 model year is current?
The record attempt involved a 2025 Corvette ZR1. Chevrolet’s current U.S. model page is for the 2027 ZR1 and, when viewed October 4, 2026, listed a starting price of $198,000. That current-model price is not the price of the 2025 record car, and model-year pricing can change.
