The Covini C6W was announced as a production-ready six-wheeled supercar in 2010, but the headline price of about US$400,000 was a reported rumor—not an official price. Covini’s current website says the project cannot be completed with its existing production structure and that it is looking for another company to take it on, so the old announcement is not evidence that the C6W is on sale today.
Where the US$400,000 figure came from
On December 19, 2010, New Atlas reported that Covini Engineering and PMI SpA had unveiled what the publication described as the production version of the C6W at the Racing Professional Motor Show in Bologna. The report said pricing and availability had not been announced. It attributed the approximately €300,000 figure—rendered in its headline as about US$400,000—to rumors on Italian automotive websites, not to a confirmed manufacturer price. New Atlas’s 2010 report therefore documents a period announcement and price rumor, not a verified transaction or current offer.
Is the C6W in production now?
Covini’s current homepage says the company is looking for another company willing to take on the C6W project because it cannot be completed with the current production structure. That is the manufacturer’s present stated position, and it does not describe the car as currently available for purchase. Covini Engineering does not establish a current production run, sales channel, or confirmed price.
There is later historical context, but it does not change that conclusion: Covini’s 2019 news archive reported planned C6W participation in events at Parco Valentino in Turin and repeated an approximate €300,000 price attributed to La Repubblica. The archive does not confirm actual sales, production volume, or a current price. Covini’s news archive is evidence of the 2019 report, not proof of present availability.

What makes the C6W unusual
The C6W’s defining feature is its six-wheel layout: four steerable wheels at the front and two driven wheels at the rear. Covini says the four front wheels are intended to improve road holding, braking, tire contact, resistance to aquaplaning, directional stability, front aerodynamics, and ride comfort. Those are manufacturer-stated benefits; the available material does not provide independent comparative testing to verify them. The concept was inspired by the Tyrrell P34 Formula One car of the 1970s, as described in the 2010 New Atlas report.

Why older specifications differ
The 2010 New Atlas report describes an Audi-sourced 4.2-liter V8 rated at 440 bhp and 346 lb-ft in its article text, while its production-specification block lists 420 hp (309 kW). It also lists 15-inch front wheels and describes an automatic six-speed/electrohydraulic option alongside manual operation. Covini’s current page instead lists 440 CV and 16-inch front wheels. These are source- and version-specific published figures; they should not be combined into a single definitive specification sheet.

A C6W model is a separate collectible
Covini’s vehicle listing dates the C6W to 2008 and describes it as a three-axle super-GT. The company also identifies a Tecnomodel Milano 1:43 scale model, describing an initial 100-piece series in silver, black, and ochre and saying a second series was in production when that page was written. That supports looking for a Covini C6W 1:43 scale model, but it does not establish that a model—or a full-size car—is currently in stock. Check a seller’s current listing before relying on availability. Covini’s vehicle listing provides the historical vehicle and scale-model details.
