How to qualify for Hertz’s EV and hybrid offer
Hertz’s offer page, accessed October 4, 2026, advertises 10% off eligible rentals subject to these conditions:
- Book at a participating Hertz location in the United States or Canada.
- Reserve at least 24 hours before pickup and enter promo code 212157 during the reservation. Hertz says the offer is void without the code.
- Rent for at least three days.
- Pick up the vehicle no later than December 31, 2026.
- Choose an eligible EV or hybrid medium sedan, subject to availability, blackout periods, and other restrictions.
The offer cannot be combined with other discounts, promotions, or special rates. Check the terms attached to your quote for the specific location and dates.
What the 10% discount covers
The reduction applies to the Pay Later base rate, which Hertz defines as time and mileage charges. It does not discount taxes, fees, or optional extras. Charging costs are separate, too, so compare the estimated total rather than judging the deal by the advertised percentage alone.

Hertz says non-prepaid reservations do not guarantee that the reserved vehicle class will be available. Your final charges can also differ from the estimate if you change the reservation, add products, or other circumstances affect the rental. Review the quote and rental agreement before confirming.
How to book and check the total
- Enter your pickup and return locations, dates, and times on Hertz’s booking page. Use the same trip details you would use to compare other options.
- Select an eligible EV or hybrid vehicle class and enter promo code 212157 in the reservation flow.
- Confirm that the quote reflects the discount and that the reservation meets the 24-hour advance-booking and three-day minimum requirements.
- Review the full estimate, including taxes, fees, optional products, and the payment terms. Compare like for like: vehicle class, locations, duration, mileage assumptions, and add-ons.
- Before pickup, check the rental record for the vehicle’s charging terms and any local rates or supported return options.
Charging choices can change the real cost
Hertz’s U.S. EV terms describe three ways to handle charging: an EV Purchase Option (EVPO), an EV Service Charge (EVSC), or recharging independently. Hertz’s guidance dated August 4, 2024 says charging at a local public station will generally cost less than its paid options, while EVPO or EVSC may be more convenient if you want to avoid stopping to charge before returning the car. Actual rates vary by location; check the rental record and local terms rather than assuming a universal price.

What to expect from the battery and range
Hertz’s current U.S. electric vehicle terms, accessed October 4, 2026, say it will endeavor to provide an EV at 80% charge, but cannot always do so. The terms say renters are never required to return the vehicle with more than 75% charge. Check the terms on your specific rental record and any applicable local agreement.
Do not plan a route on the assumption that the vehicle will deliver its stated range: Hertz says reservation range information is not guaranteed. Weather, driving, and road conditions can affect how far the car travels. Build in a charging margin for your route and account for the charge level at pickup.

Does the offer make Hertz the cheapest choice?
Not necessarily. The offer lowers only eligible base-rate charges, and the available information does not compare Hertz’s total price with other rental companies, public transit, or owning a vehicle. Check the final quote for your dates and locations, then include charging and any other trip costs that apply. A 10% base-rate discount is useful only if the resulting total works for your plans.
